Paul’s Greeting to the Ephesians
1
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by [the] will of God, To the saints - in Ephesus, [the] faithful in Christ Jesus:

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and [the] Lord Jesus Christ.

Spiritual Blessings

Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms.
Εὐλογητὸς ὁ Θεὸς καὶ Πατὴρ ἡμῶν τοῦ Κυρίου Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ ὁ εὐλογήσας ἡμᾶς ἐν Χριστῷ ἐν πάσῃ πνευματικῇ εὐλογίᾳ ἐν τοῖς ἐπουρανίοις Eulogētos ho Theos kai Patēr hēmōn tou Kyriou Iēsou Christou ho eulogēsas hēmas en Christō en pasē pneumatikē eulogia en tois epouraniois — NA/TR · 3

For He chose us in Him before [the] foundation of [the] world to be holy and blameless in His presence… In love

He predestined us for adoption as His sons… through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of His will,

to [the] praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the Beloved [One].

In [Him] we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace
ἐν ᾧ ἔχομεν τὴν ἀπολύτρωσιν διὰ αὐτοῦ τοῦ αἵματος τὴν ἄφεσιν τῶν παραπτωμάτων κατὰ τὸ πλοῦτος τῆς αὐτοῦ χάριτος en hō echomen tēn apolytrōsin dia autou tou haimatos tēn aphesin tōn paraptōmatōn kata to ploutos tēs autou charitos — NA/TR · 7

that He lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.
ἧς ἐπερίσσευσεν εἰς ἡμᾶς ἐν πάσῃ σοφίᾳ καὶ φρονήσει hēs eperisseusen eis hēmas en pasē sophia kai phronēsei — NA/TR · 8

[And] He has made known to us the mystery of His will according to His good pleasure, which He purposed in [Christ]
γνωρίσας ἡμῖν τὸ μυστήριον αὐτοῦ τοῦ θελήματος κατὰ αὐτοῦ τὴν εὐδοκίαν ἣν προέθετο ἐν αὐτῷ gnōrisas hēmin to mystērion autou tou thelēmatos kata autou tēn eudokian hēn proetheto en autō — NA/TR · 9

as a plan for the fullness of time, to bring all things in heaven and on earth {together} in Christ -.
εἰς οἰκονομίαν τοῦ πληρώματος τῶν καιρῶν ἀνακεφαλαιώσασθαι πάντα τὰ ἐπὶ τοῖς οὐρανοῖς καὶ τὰ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἐν τῷ Χριστῷ τὰ eis oikonomian tou plērōmatos tōn kairōn anakephalaiōsasthai panta ta epi tois ouranois kai ta epi tēs gēs en tō Christō ta — NA/TR · 10

In Him - vvv we were also chosen as God’s own, having been predestined according to [the] plan of [Him who] works out everything by the counsel of His will,
ἐν αὐτῷ ἐν ᾧ καὶ ἐκληρώθημεν προορισθέντες κατὰ πρόθεσιν τοῦ ἐνεργοῦντος τὰ πάντα κατὰ τὴν βουλὴν τοῦ αὐτοῦ θελήματος en autō en hō kai eklērōthēmen prooristhentes kata prothesin tou energountos ta panta kata tēn boulēn tou autou thelēmatos — NA/TR · 11

in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, would be for [the] praise of His glory.

And in [Him], having heard and believed the word of truth— the gospel of your salvation— you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit -,
καὶ ἐν ᾧ ἀκούσαντες καὶ πιστεύσαντες τὸν λόγον τῆς ἀληθείας τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τῆς ὑμῶν σωτηρίας ὑμεῖς ἐσφραγίσθητε τῷ τῷ τῆς ἐπαγγελίας Ἁγίῳ Πνεύματι ἐν ᾧ kai en hō akousantes kai pisteusantes ton logon tēs alētheias to euangelion tēs hymōn sōtērias hymeis esphragisthēte tō tō tēs epangelias Hagiō Pneumati en hō — NA/TR · 13

who is [the] pledge of our inheritance until [the] redemption of those [who are] [God’s] possession, to [the] praise of His glory.
ὅ ἐστιν ἀρραβὼν ἡμῶν τῆς κληρονομίας εἰς ἀπολύτρωσιν τῆς περιποιήσεως εἰς ἔπαινον τῆς αὐτοῦ δόξης ho estin arrabōn hēmōn tēs klēronomias eis apolytrōsin tēs peripoiēseōs eis epainon tēs autou doxēs — NA/TR · 14
Spiritual Wisdom

For this reason…, ever since I heard about vvv your faith in the Lord Jesus and [your] love for all the saints,
Διὰ τοῦτο κἀγώ ἀκούσας τὴν καθ’ ὑμᾶς πίστιν ἐν τῷ Κυρίῳ Ἰησοῦ καὶ τὴν ἀγάπην τὴν εἰς πάντας τοὺς ἁγίους Dia touto kagō akousas tēn kath’ hymas pistin en tō Kyriō Iēsou kai tēn agapēn tēn eis pantas tous hagious — NA/TR · 15

{I have} not stopped giving thanks for you, vvv remembering you in my prayers,
οὐ παύομαι εὐχαριστῶν ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν ποιούμενος μνείαν ἐπὶ μου τῶν προσευχῶν ou pauomai eucharistōn hyper hymōn poioumenos mneian epi mou tōn proseuchōn — NA/TR · 16

that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you [a] spirit of wisdom and revelation in [your] knowledge of Him.
ἵνα ὁ Θεὸς ἡμῶν τοῦ Κυρίου Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ ὁ τῆς δόξης Πατὴρ δώῃ ὑμῖν πνεῦμα σοφίας καὶ ἀποκαλύψεως ἐν ἐπιγνώσει αὐτοῦ hina ho Theos hēmōn tou Kyriou Iēsou Christou ho tēs doxēs Patēr dōē hymin pneuma sophias kai apokalypseōs en epignōsei autou — NA/TR · 17

[I ask that] the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know - the hope of His calling, the riches of His vvv glorious inheritance in the saints,
τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς τῆς ὑμῶν καρδίας πεφωτισμένους εἰς ὑμᾶς τὸ εἰδέναι τίς ἐστιν ἡ ἐλπὶς τῆς αὐτοῦ κλήσεως τίς ὁ πλοῦτος τῆς αὐτοῦ τῆς δόξης κληρονομίας ἐν τοῖς ἁγίοις tous ophthalmous tēs hymōn kardias pephōtismenous eis hymas to eidenai tis estin hē elpis tēs autou klēseōs tis ho ploutos tēs autou tēs doxēs klēronomias en tois hagiois — NA/TR · 18

and the surpassing greatness of His power to us who believe. [ These are ] in accordance with the working of His mighty strength,
καὶ τί τὸ ὑπερβάλλον μέγεθος τῆς αὐτοῦ δυνάμεως εἰς ἡμᾶς τοὺς πιστεύοντας κατὰ τὴν ἐνέργειαν τῆς αὐτοῦ ἰσχύος τοῦ κράτους kai ti to hyperballon megethos tēs autou dynameōs eis hēmas tous pisteuontas kata tēn energeian tēs autou ischyos tou kratous — NA/TR · 19

which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from [the] dead and seated [Him] at His right hand in the heavenly realms,
ἣν ἐνήργηκεν ἐν τῷ Χριστῷ ἐγείρας αὐτὸν ἐκ νεκρῶν καὶ καθίσας ἐν αὐτοῦ δεξιᾷ ἐν τοῖς ἐπουρανίοις hēn enērgēken en tō Christō egeiras auton ek nekrōn kai kathisas en autou dexia en tois epouraniois — NA/TR · 20

far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in the present age but also in the [one] to come.
ὑπεράνω πάσης ἀρχῆς καὶ ἐξουσίας καὶ δυνάμεως καὶ κυριότητος καὶ παντὸς ὀνόματος ὀνομαζομένου οὐ μόνον ἐν τούτῳ τῷ αἰῶνι ἀλλὰ καὶ ἐν τῷ μέλλοντι hyperanō pasēs archēs kai exousias kai dynameōs kai kyriotētos kai pantos onomatos onomazomenou ou monon en toutō tō aiōni alla kai en tō mellonti — NA/TR · 21

And [God] put everything under His feet and made Him head over everything for the church,
καὶ ὑπέταξεν πάντα ὑπὸ αὐτοῦ τοὺς πόδας καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὸν κεφαλὴν ὑπὲρ πάντα τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ kai hypetaxen panta hypo autou tous podas kai edōken auton kephalēn hyper panta tē ekklēsia — NA/TR · 22

which is His body, the fullness of [Him] who fills all in all.
ἥτις ἐστὶν αὐτοῦ τὸ σῶμα τὸ πλήρωμα τοῦ πληρουμένου τὰ πάντα ἐν πᾶσιν hētis estin autou to sōma to plērōma tou plēroumenou ta panta en pasin — NA/TR · 23
