Chapter 13
An End to Idolatry
1
[“]On that day a fountain will be opened to the house of David and the people of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and impurity.
𐤄𐤄𐤅𐤀 𐤁𐤉𐤅𐤌 𐤌𐤒𐤅𐤓 𐤉𐤄𐤉𐤄 𐤍𐤐𐤕𐤇 𐤋𐤁𐤉𐤕 𐤃𐤅𐤉𐤃 𐤅𐤋𐤉𐤔𐤁𐤉 𐤉𐤓𐤅𐤔𐤋𐤌 𐤋𐤇𐤈𐤀𐤕 𐤅𐤋𐤍𐤃𐤄
הַה֗וּא בַּיּ֣וֹם מָק֣וֹר יִֽהְיֶה֙ נִפְתָּ֔ח לְבֵ֥ית דָּוִ֖יד וּלְיֹשְׁבֵ֣י יְרֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם לְחַטַּ֖את וּלְנִדָּֽה׃ ha·hū bay·yō·wm mā·qō·wr yih·yeh nip̄·tāḥ lə·ḇêṯ dā·wîḏ ū·lə·yō·šə·ḇê yə·rū·šā·lim lə·ḥaṭ·ṭaṯ ū·lə·nid·dāh — WLC · 1

And on that day, declares the LORD of Hosts, I will erase the names of the idols from the land, and they will no longer… be remembered. I will also remove the prophets and the spirit of impurity from the land.
𐤅𐤄𐤉𐤄 𐤄𐤄𐤅𐤀 𐤁𐤉𐤅𐤌 𐤍𐤀𐤌 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤑𐤁𐤀𐤅𐤕 𐤀𐤊𐤓𐤉𐤕 𐤀𐤕 𐤔𐤌𐤅𐤕 𐤄𐤏𐤑𐤁𐤉𐤌 𐤌𐤍 𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 𐤅𐤋𐤀 𐤏𐤅𐤃 𐤅𐤂𐤌 𐤀𐤕 𐤉𐤆𐤊𐤓𐤅 𐤀𐤏𐤁𐤉𐤓 𐤄𐤍𐤁𐤉𐤀𐤉𐤌 𐤅𐤀𐤕 𐤓𐤅𐤇 𐤄𐤈𐤌𐤀𐤄 𐤌𐤍 𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑
וְהָיָה֩ הַה֜וּא בַיּ֨וֹם נְאֻ֣ם׀ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֗וֹת אַכְרִ֞ית אֶת־ שְׁמ֤וֹת הָֽעֲצַבִּים֙ מִן־ הָאָ֔רֶץ וְלֹ֥א ע֑וֹד וְגַ֧ם אֶת־ יִזָּכְר֖וּ אַעֲבִ֥יר הַנְּבִיאִ֛ים וְאֶת־ ר֥וּחַ הַטֻּמְאָ֖ה מִן־ הָאָֽרֶץ׃ wə·hā·yāh ha·hū ḇay·yō·wm nə·’um Yah·weh ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ ’aḵ·rîṯ ’eṯ- šə·mō·wṯ hā·‘ă·ṣab·bîm min- hā·’ā·reṣ wə·lō ‘ō·wḏ wə·ḡam ’eṯ- yiz·zā·ḵə·rū ’a·‘ă·ḇîr han·nə·ḇî·’îm wə·’eṯ- rū·aḥ haṭ·ṭum·’āh min- hā·’ā·reṣ — WLC · 2

And if anyone still prophesies, his father and mother who bore him will say to him, ‘You shall not remain alive, because you have spoken falsely in the name of the LORD.’ When he prophesies, his father and mother who bore him will pierce him through.
𐤅𐤄𐤉𐤄 𐤊𐤉 𐤀𐤉𐤔 𐤏𐤅𐤃 𐤉𐤍𐤁𐤀 𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤅 𐤅𐤀𐤌𐤅 𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤉𐤅 𐤅𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤅 𐤀𐤋𐤉𐤅 𐤋𐤀 𐤕𐤇𐤉𐤄 𐤊𐤉 𐤃𐤁𐤓𐤕 𐤔𐤒𐤓 𐤁𐤔𐤌 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤁𐤄𐤍𐤁𐤀𐤅 𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤄𐤅 𐤅𐤀𐤌𐤅 𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤉𐤅 𐤅𐤃𐤒𐤓𐤄𐤅
וְהָיָ֗ה כִּֽי־ אִישׁ֮ עוֹד֒ יִנָּבֵ֣א אָבִ֨יו וְאִמּ֤וֹ יֹֽלְדָיו֙ וְאָמְר֣וּ אֵ֠לָיו לֹ֣א תִֽחְיֶ֔ה כִּ֛י דִּבַּ֖רְתָּ שֶׁ֥קֶר בְּשֵׁ֣ם יְהוָ֑ה בְּהִנָּבְאֽוֹ׃ אָבִ֧יהוּ וְאִמּ֛וֹ יֹלְדָ֖יו וּדְקָרֻ֜הוּ wə·hā·yāh kî- ’îš ‘ō·wḏ yin·nā·ḇê ’ā·ḇîw wə·’im·mōw yō·lə·ḏāw wə·’ā·mə·rū ’ê·lāw lō ṯiḥ·yeh kî dib·bar·tā še·qer bə·šêm Yah·weh bə·hin·nā·ḇə·’ōw ’ā·ḇî·hū wə·’im·mōw yō·lə·ḏāw ū·ḏə·qā·ru·hū — WLC · 3

And on that day every prophet who prophesies will be ashamed of his vision, and he will not put on a hairy cloak in order to deceive.

וְהָיָ֣ה׀ הַה֗וּא בַּיּ֣וֹם אִ֥ישׁ הַנְּבִיאִ֛ים בְּהִנָּֽבְאֹת֑וֹ יֵבֹ֧שׁוּ מֵחֶזְיֹנ֖וֹ וְלֹ֧א יִלְבְּשׁ֛וּ שֵׂעָ֖ר אַדֶּ֥רֶת לְמַ֥עַן כַּחֵֽשׁ׃ wə·hā·yāh ha·hū bay·yō·wm ’îš han·nə·ḇî·’îm bə·hin·nā·ḇə·’ō·ṯōw yê·ḇō·šū mê·ḥez·yō·nōw wə·lō yil·bə·šū śê·‘ār ’ad·de·reṯ lə·ma·‘an ka·ḥêš — WLC · 4

He will say, ‘I… am not a prophet; I work the land, for vvv I was purchased as a servant in my youth.

וְאָמַ֕ר אָנֹ֑כִי אִישׁ־ לֹ֥א נָבִ֖יא אָנֹ֔כִי עֹבֵ֤ד אֲדָמָה֙ כִּ֥י אָדָ֖ם הִקְנַ֥נִי מִנְּעוּרָֽי׃ wə·’ā·mar ’ā·nō·ḵî ’îš- lō nā·ḇî ’ā·nō·ḵî ‘ō·ḇêḏ ’ă·ḏā·māh kî ’ā·ḏām hiq·na·nî min·nə·‘ū·rāy — WLC · 5

If someone asks him, ‘What are these wounds on your chest… he will answer, ‘These are the wounds I received in the house of my friends.’
𐤅𐤀𐤌𐤓 𐤀𐤋𐤉𐤅 𐤌𐤄 𐤄𐤀𐤋𐤄 𐤄𐤌𐤊𐤅𐤕 𐤁𐤉𐤍 𐤉𐤃𐤉𐤊 𐤅𐤀𐤌𐤓 𐤀𐤔𐤓 𐤄𐤊𐤉𐤕𐤉 𐤁𐤉𐤕 𐤌𐤀𐤄𐤁𐤉𐤎
וְאָמַ֣ר אֵלָ֔יו מָ֧ה הָאֵ֖לֶּה הַמַּכּ֛וֹת בֵּ֣ין יָדֶ֑יךָ וְאָמַ֕ר אֲשֶׁ֥ר הֻכֵּ֖יתִי בֵּ֥ית מְאַהֲבָֽי׃ס wə·’ā·mar ’ê·lāw māh hā·’êl·leh ham·mak·kō·wṯ bên yā·ḏe·ḵā wə·’ā·mar ’ă·šer huk·kê·ṯî bêṯ mə·’a·hă·ḇāy — WLC · 6
The Shepherd Struck, the Sheep Scattered

Awake, O sword, against My Shepherd, against the man who is My Companion, declares the LORD of Hosts. Strike the Shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered, and I will turn My hand against the little ones.
𐤏𐤅𐤓𐤉 𐤇𐤓𐤁 𐤏𐤋 𐤓𐤏𐤉 𐤅𐤏𐤋 𐤂𐤁𐤓 𐤏𐤌𐤉𐤕𐤉 𐤍𐤀𐤌 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤑𐤁𐤀𐤅𐤕 𐤄𐤊 𐤀𐤕 𐤄𐤓𐤏𐤄 𐤄𐤑𐤀𐤍 𐤅𐤕𐤐𐤅𐤑𐤉𐤍 𐤅𐤄𐤔𐤁𐤕𐤉 𐤉𐤃𐤉 𐤏𐤋 𐤄𐤑𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤌
עוּרִ֤י חֶ֗רֶב עַל־ רֹעִי֙ וְעַל־ גֶּ֣בֶר עֲמִיתִ֔י נְאֻ֖ם יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֑וֹת הַ֤ךְ אֶת־ הָֽרֹעֶה֙ הַצֹּ֔אן וּתְפוּצֶ֣יןָ וַהֲשִׁבֹתִ֥י יָדִ֖י עַל־ הַצֹּעֲרִֽים׃ ‘ū·rî ḥe·reḇ ‘al- rō·‘î wə·‘al- ge·ḇer ‘ă·mî·ṯî nə·’um Yah·weh ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ haḵ ’eṯ- hā·rō·‘eh haṣ·ṣōn ū·ṯə·p̄ū·ṣe·nā wa·hă·ši·ḇō·ṯî yā·ḏî ‘al- haṣ·ṣō·‘ă·rîm — WLC · 7

And in all the land, declares the LORD, two-thirds… will be cut off [and] perish, but a third will be left in it.
𐤅𐤄𐤉𐤄 𐤁𐤊𐤋 𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 𐤍𐤀𐤌 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤐𐤉 𐤔𐤍𐤉𐤌 𐤁𐤄 𐤉𐤊𐤓𐤕𐤅 𐤉𐤂𐤅𐤏𐤅 𐤅𐤄𐤔𐤋𐤔𐤉𐤕 𐤉𐤅𐤕𐤓 𐤁𐤄
וְהָיָ֤ה בְכָל־ הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ נְאֻם־ יְהוָ֔ה פִּֽי־ שְׁנַ֣יִם בָּ֔הּ יִכָּרְת֖וּ יִגְוָ֑עוּ וְהַשְּׁלִשִׁ֖ית יִוָּ֥תֶר בָּֽהּ׃ wə·hā·yāh ḇə·ḵāl- hā·’ā·reṣ nə·’um- Yah·weh pî- šə·na·yim bāh yik·kā·rə·ṯū yiḡ·wā·‘ū wə·haš·šə·li·šîṯ yiw·wā·ṯer bāh — WLC · 8

This third I will bring through the fire; I will refine them like silver - and test them like gold -. They will call on My name, and I will answer them. I will say, ‘They are My people,’ and they… will say, ‘The LORD [is] our God.’”

הַשְּׁלִשִׁית֙ וְהֵבֵאתִ֤י אֶת־ בָּאֵ֔שׁ וּצְרַפְתִּים֙ הַכֶּ֔סֶף כִּצְרֹ֣ף אֶת־ וּבְחַנְתִּ֖ים הַזָּהָ֑ב כִּבְחֹ֣ן אֶת־ ה֣וּא׀ יִקְרָ֣א בִשְׁמִ֗י וַֽאֲנִי֙ אֶעֱנֶ֣ה אֹת֔וֹ אָמַ֙רְתִּי֙ עַמִּ֣י ה֔וּא וְה֥וּא יֹאמַ֖ר יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהָֽי׃ס haš·šə·li·šîṯ wə·hê·ḇê·ṯî ’eṯ- bā·’êš ū·ṣə·rap̄·tîm hak·ke·sep̄ kiṣ·rōp̄ ’eṯ- ū·ḇə·ḥan·tîm haz·zā·hāḇ kiḇ·ḥōn ’eṯ- hū yiq·rā ḇiš·mî wa·’ă·nî ’e·‘ĕ·neh ’ō·ṯōw ’ā·mar·tî ‘am·mî hū wə·hū yō·mar Yah·weh ’ĕ·lō·hāy — WLC · 9
