Chapter 4
The Mountain of the House of the LORD
1
- In the last days the mountain of the house of the LORD will be established as the chief of the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and the peoples will stream to it.
𐤅𐤄𐤉𐤄 𐤁𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉𐤕 𐤄𐤉𐤌𐤉𐤌 𐤄𐤓 𐤁𐤉𐤕 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤉𐤄𐤉𐤄 𐤍𐤊𐤅𐤍 𐤁𐤓𐤀𐤔 𐤄𐤄𐤓𐤉𐤌 𐤅𐤍𐤔𐤀 𐤄𐤅𐤀 𐤌𐤂𐤁𐤏𐤅𐤕 𐤏𐤌𐤉𐤌 𐤅𐤍𐤄𐤓𐤅 𐤏𐤋𐤉𐤅
וְהָיָ֣ה׀ בְּאַחֲרִ֣ית הַיָּמִ֗ים הַ֣ר בֵּית־ יְהוָ֤ה יִ֠הְיֶה נָכוֹן֙ בְּרֹ֣אשׁ הֶהָרִ֔ים וְנִשָּׂ֥א ה֖וּא מִגְּבָע֑וֹת עַמִּֽים׃ וְנָהֲר֥וּ עָלָ֖יו wə·hā·yāh bə·’a·ḥă·rîṯ hay·yā·mîm har bêṯ- Yah·weh yih·yeh nā·ḵō·wn bə·rōš he·hā·rîm wə·niś·śā hū mig·gə·ḇā·‘ō·wṯ ‘am·mîm wə·nā·hă·rū ‘ā·lāw — WLC · 1

And many nations will come and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us His ways, so that we may walk in His paths.” For the law will go forth from Zion and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
𐤓𐤁𐤉𐤌 𐤂𐤅𐤉𐤌 𐤅𐤄𐤋𐤊𐤅 𐤅𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤅 𐤋𐤊𐤅 𐤅𐤍𐤏𐤋𐤄 𐤀𐤋 𐤄𐤓 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤅𐤀𐤋 𐤁𐤉𐤕 𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉 𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 𐤅𐤉𐤅𐤓𐤍𐤅 𐤌𐤃𐤓𐤊𐤉𐤅 𐤅𐤍𐤋𐤊𐤄 𐤁𐤀𐤓𐤇𐤕𐤉𐤅 𐤊𐤉 𐤕𐤅𐤓𐤄 𐤕𐤑𐤀 𐤌𐤑𐤉𐤅𐤍 𐤅𐤃𐤁𐤓 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤌𐤉𐤓𐤅𐤔𐤋𐤌
רַבִּ֗ים גּוֹיִ֣ם וְֽהָלְכ֞וּ וְאָֽמְרוּ֙ לְכ֣וּ׀ וְנַעֲלֶ֣ה אֶל־ הַר־ יְהוָ֗ה וְאֶל־ בֵּית֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יַעֲקֹ֔ב וְיוֹרֵ֙נוּ֙ מִדְּרָכָ֔יו וְנֵלְכָ֖ה בְּאֹֽרְחֹתָ֑יו כִּ֤י תוֹרָ֔ה תֵּצֵ֣א מִצִּיּוֹן֙ וּדְבַר־ יְהוָ֖ה מִירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ rab·bîm gō·w·yim wə·hā·lə·ḵū wə·’ā·mə·rū lə·ḵū wə·na·‘ă·leh ’el- har- Yah·weh wə·’el- bêṯ ’ĕ·lō·hê ya·‘ă·qōḇ wə·yō·w·rê·nū mid·də·rā·ḵāw wə·nê·lə·ḵāh bə·’ō·rə·ḥō·ṯāw kî ṯō·w·rāh tê·ṣê miṣ·ṣî·yō·wn ū·ḏə·ḇar- Yah·weh mî·rū·šā·lim — WLC · 2

Then He will judge between many peoples and arbitrate for strong… nations far and wide. Then they will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will no longer take up the sword against nation, nor will they train anymore for war.
𐤅𐤔𐤐𐤈 𐤁𐤉𐤍 𐤓𐤁𐤉𐤌 𐤏𐤌𐤉𐤌 𐤅𐤄𐤅𐤊𐤉𐤇 𐤏𐤑𐤌𐤉𐤌 𐤏𐤃 𐤋𐤂𐤅𐤉𐤌 𐤓𐤇𐤅𐤒 𐤅𐤊𐤕𐤕𐤅 𐤇𐤓𐤁𐤕𐤉𐤄𐤌 𐤋𐤀𐤕𐤉𐤌 𐤅𐤇𐤍𐤉𐤕𐤕𐤉𐤄𐤌 𐤋𐤌𐤆𐤌𐤓𐤅𐤕 𐤂𐤅𐤉 𐤋𐤀 𐤉𐤔𐤀𐤅 𐤇𐤓𐤁 𐤀𐤋 𐤂𐤅𐤉 𐤅𐤋𐤀 𐤉𐤋𐤌𐤃𐤅𐤍 𐤏𐤅𐤃 𐤌𐤋𐤇𐤌𐤄
וְשָׁפַ֗ט בֵּ֚ין רַבִּ֔ים עַמִּ֣ים וְהוֹכִ֛יחַ עֲצֻמִ֖ים עַד־ לְגוֹיִ֥ם רָח֑וֹק וְכִתְּת֨וּ חַרְבֹתֵיהֶ֜ם לְאִתִּ֗ים וַחֲנִיתֹֽתֵיהֶם֙ לְמַזְמֵר֔וֹת גּ֤וֹי לֹֽא־ יִשְׂא֞וּ חֶ֔רֶב אֶל־ גּוֹי֙ וְלֹא־ יִלְמְד֥וּן ע֖וֹד מִלְחָמָֽה׃ wə·šā·p̄aṭ bên rab·bîm ‘am·mîm wə·hō·w·ḵî·aḥ ‘ă·ṣu·mîm ‘aḏ- lə·ḡō·w·yim rā·ḥō·wq wə·ḵit·tə·ṯū ḥar·ḇō·ṯê·hem lə·’it·tîm wa·ḥă·nî·ṯō·ṯê·hem lə·maz·mê·rō·wṯ gō·w lō- yiś·’ū ḥe·reḇ ’el- gō·w wə·lō- yil·mə·ḏūn ‘ō·wḏ mil·ḥā·māh — WLC · 3

And each man will sit under his own vine [and] under his own fig tree, with no one to frighten him. For the mouth of the LORD of Hosts has spoken.
𐤀𐤉𐤔 𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤁𐤅 𐤕𐤇𐤕 𐤂𐤐𐤍𐤅 𐤅𐤕𐤇𐤕 𐤕𐤀𐤍𐤕𐤅 𐤅𐤀𐤉𐤍 𐤌𐤇𐤓𐤉𐤃 𐤊𐤉 𐤐𐤉 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤑𐤁𐤀𐤅𐤕 𐤃𐤁𐤓
אִ֣ישׁ וְיָשְׁב֗וּ תַּ֧חַת גַּפְנ֛וֹ וְתַ֥חַת תְּאֵנָת֖וֹ וְאֵ֣ין מַחֲרִ֑יד כִּי־ פִ֛י יְהוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת דִּבֵּֽר׃ ’îš wə·yā·šə·ḇū ta·ḥaṯ gap̄·nōw wə·ṯa·ḥaṯ tə·’ê·nā·ṯōw wə·’ên ma·ḥă·rîḏ kî- p̄î Yah·weh ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ dib·bêr — WLC · 4

Though all… the nations may walk in the name of their gods, yet we will walk in the name of the LORD our God forever and ever.
𐤊𐤉 𐤊𐤋 𐤀𐤉𐤔 𐤄𐤏𐤌𐤉𐤌 𐤉𐤋𐤊𐤅 𐤁𐤔𐤌 𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤅 𐤅𐤀𐤍𐤇𐤍𐤅 𐤍𐤋𐤊 𐤁𐤔𐤌 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤍𐤅 𐤋𐤏𐤅𐤋𐤌 𐤅𐤏𐤃𐤐
כִּ֚י כָּל־ אִ֖ישׁ הָ֣עַמִּ֔ים יֵלְכ֕וּ בְּשֵׁ֣ם אֱלֹהָ֑יו וַאֲנַ֗חְנוּ נֵלֵ֛ךְ בְּשֵׁם־ יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ לְעוֹלָ֥ם וָעֶֽד׃פ kî kāl- ’îš hā·‘am·mîm yê·lə·ḵū bə·šêm ’ĕ·lō·hāw wa·’ă·naḥ·nū nê·lêḵ bə·šêm- Yah·weh ’ĕ·lō·hê·nū lə·‘ō·w·lām wā·‘eḏ — WLC · 5
The Restoration of Zion

“On that day,” declares the LORD, “I will gather the lame; I will assemble the outcast, even those whom I have afflicted.
𐤄𐤄𐤅𐤀 𐤁𐤉𐤅𐤌 𐤍𐤀𐤌 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤀𐤎𐤐𐤄 𐤄𐤑𐤋𐤏𐤄 𐤀𐤒𐤁𐤑𐤄 𐤅𐤄𐤍𐤃𐤇𐤄 𐤅𐤀𐤔𐤓 𐤄𐤓𐤏𐤕𐤉
הַה֜וּא בַּיּ֨וֹם נְאֻם־ יְהוָ֗ה אֹֽסְפָה֙ הַצֹּ֣לֵעָ֔ה אֲקַבֵּ֑צָה וְהַנִּדָּחָ֖ה וַאֲשֶׁ֖ר הֲרֵעֹֽתִי׃ ha·hū bay·yō·wm nə·’um- Yah·weh ’ō·sə·p̄āh haṣ·ṣō·lê·‘āh ’ă·qab·bê·ṣāh wə·han·nid·dā·ḥāh wa·’ă·šer hă·rê·‘ō·ṯî — WLC · 6

And I will make the lame into a remnant, the outcast into a strong nation. Then the LORD will rule over them in Mount Zion from that day and forever…
𐤅𐤔𐤌𐤕𐤉 𐤀𐤕 𐤄𐤑𐤋𐤏𐤄 𐤋𐤔𐤀𐤓𐤉𐤕 𐤅𐤄𐤍𐤄𐤋𐤀𐤄 𐤏𐤑𐤅𐤌 𐤋𐤂𐤅𐤉 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤅𐤌𐤋𐤊 𐤏𐤋𐤉𐤄𐤌 𐤁𐤄𐤓 𐤑𐤉𐤅𐤍 𐤌𐤏𐤕𐤄 𐤅𐤏𐤃 𐤏𐤅𐤋𐤌𐤐
וְשַׂמְתִּ֤י אֶת־ הַצֹּֽלֵעָה֙ לִשְׁאֵרִ֔ית וְהַנַּהֲלָאָ֖ה עָצ֑וּם לְג֣וֹי יְהוָ֤ה וּמָלַ֨ךְ עֲלֵיהֶם֙ בְּהַ֣ר צִיּ֔וֹן מֵעַתָּ֖ה וְעַד־ עוֹלָֽם׃פ wə·śam·tî ’eṯ- haṣ·ṣō·lê·‘āh liš·’ê·rîṯ wə·han·na·hă·lā·’āh ‘ā·ṣūm lə·ḡō·w Yah·weh ū·mā·laḵ ‘ă·lê·hem bə·har ṣî·yō·wn mê·‘at·tāh wə·‘aḏ- ‘ō·w·lām — WLC · 7

And you, O watchtower of the flock, O stronghold of the Daughter of Zion— the former dominion will be restored to you; sovereignty will come to the Daughter of Jerusalem.”
𐤅𐤀𐤕𐤄 𐤌𐤂𐤃𐤋 𐤏𐤃𐤓 𐤏𐤐𐤋 𐤁𐤕 𐤑𐤉𐤅𐤍 𐤄𐤓𐤀𐤔𐤍𐤄 𐤄𐤌𐤌𐤔𐤋𐤄 𐤕𐤀𐤕𐤄 𐤏𐤃𐤉𐤊 𐤌𐤌𐤋𐤊𐤕 𐤅𐤁𐤀𐤄 𐤋𐤁𐤕 𐤉𐤓𐤅𐤔𐤋𐤌
וְאַתָּ֣ה מִגְדַּל־ עֵ֗דֶר עֹ֛פֶל בַּת־ צִיּ֖וֹן הָרִ֣אשֹׁנָ֔ה הַמֶּמְשָׁלָה֙ תֵּאתֶ֑ה עָדֶ֣יךָ מַמְלֶ֖כֶת וּבָאָ֗ה לְבַ֥ת־ יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ wə·’at·tāh miḡ·dal- ‘ê·ḏer ‘ō·p̄el baṯ- ṣî·yō·wn hā·ri·šō·nāh ham·mem·šā·lāh tê·ṯeh ‘ā·ḏe·ḵā mam·le·ḵeṯ ū·ḇā·’āh lə·ḇaṯ- yə·rū·šā·lim — WLC · 8

Why do you now cry aloud? Is there no king among you? Has your counselor perished so that anguish grips you like a woman in labor?
𐤋𐤌𐤄 𐤏𐤕𐤄 𐤕𐤓𐤉𐤏𐤉 𐤓𐤏 𐤀𐤉𐤍 𐤄𐤌𐤋𐤊 𐤁𐤊 𐤀𐤌 𐤉𐤅𐤏𐤑𐤊 𐤀𐤁𐤃 𐤊𐤉 𐤇𐤉𐤋 𐤄𐤇𐤆𐤉𐤒𐤊 𐤊𐤉𐤅𐤋𐤃𐤄
לָ֥מָּה עַתָּ֕ה תָרִ֖יעִי רֵ֑עַ אֵֽין־ הֲמֶ֣לֶךְ בָּ֗ךְ אִֽם־ יוֹעֲצֵךְ֙ אָבָ֔ד כִּֽי־ חִ֖יל הֶחֱזִיקֵ֥ךְ כַּיּוֹלֵדָֽה׃ lām·māh ‘at·tāh ṯā·rî·‘î rê·a‘ ’ên- hă·me·leḵ bāḵ ’im- yō·w·‘ă·ṣêḵ ’ā·ḇāḏ kî- ḥîl he·ḥĕ·zî·qêḵ kay·yō·w·lê·ḏāh — WLC · 9

Writhe in agony, O Daughter of Zion, like a woman in labor. For now you will leave the city and camp in the open fields. You will go to Babylon; there you will be rescued; there the LORD will redeem you from the hand of your enemies!

ח֧וּלִי וָגֹ֛חִי בַּת־ צִיּ֖וֹן כַּיּֽוֹלֵדָ֑ה כִּֽי־ עַתָּה֩ תֵצְאִ֨י מִקִּרְיָ֜ה וְשָׁכַ֣נְתְּ בַּשָּׂדֶ֗ה וּבָ֤את עַד־ בָּבֶל֙ שָׁ֣ם תִּנָּצֵ֔לִי שָׁ֚ם יְהוָ֔ה יִגְאָלֵ֣ךְ מִכַּ֖ף אֹיְבָֽיִךְ׃ ḥū·lî wā·ḡō·ḥî baṯ- ṣî·yō·wn kay·yō·w·lê·ḏāh kî- ‘at·tāh ṯê·ṣə·’î miq·qir·yāh wə·šā·ḵant baś·śā·ḏeh ū·ḇāṯ ‘aḏ- bā·ḇel šām tin·nā·ṣê·lî šām Yah·weh yiḡ·’ā·lêḵ mik·kap̄ ’ō·yə·ḇā·yiḵ — WLC · 10

But now many nations have assembled against you, saying, “Let her be defiled, vvv and let us feast our eyes on Zion.”
𐤅𐤏𐤕𐤄 𐤓𐤁𐤉𐤌 𐤂𐤅𐤉𐤌 𐤍𐤀𐤎𐤐𐤅 𐤏𐤋𐤉𐤊 𐤄𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤉𐤌 𐤕𐤇𐤍𐤐 𐤅𐤕𐤇𐤆 𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉𐤍𐤅 𐤁𐤑𐤉𐤅𐤍
וְעַתָּ֛ה רַבִּ֑ים גּוֹיִ֣ם נֶאֶסְפ֥וּ עָלַ֖יִךְ הָאֹמְרִ֣ים תֶּחֱנָ֔ף וְתַ֥חַז עֵינֵֽינוּ׃ בְּצִיּ֖וֹן wə·‘at·tāh rab·bîm gō·w·yim ne·’es·p̄ū ‘ā·la·yiḵ hā·’ō·mə·rîm te·ḥĕ·nāp̄ wə·ṯa·ḥaz ‘ê·nê·nū bə·ṣî·yō·wn — WLC · 11

But they do not know the thoughts of the LORD or understand His plan, for He has gathered them like sheaves to the threshing floor.

וְהֵ֗מָּה לֹ֤א יָֽדְעוּ֙ מַחְשְׁב֣וֹת יְהוָ֔ה וְלֹ֥א הֵבִ֖ינוּ עֲצָת֑וֹ כִּ֥י קִבְּצָ֖ם כֶּעָמִ֥יר גֹּֽרְנָה׃ wə·hêm·māh lō yā·ḏə·‘ū maḥ·šə·ḇō·wṯ Yah·weh wə·lō hê·ḇî·nū ‘ă·ṣā·ṯōw kî qib·bə·ṣām ke·‘ā·mîr gō·rə·nāh — WLC · 12

Rise and thresh, O Daughter of Zion, for I will give you horns of iron and hooves… of bronze to break to pieces many peoples. Then you will devote their gain to the LORD, their wealth to the Lord of all the earth.

ק֧וּמִי וָד֣וֹשִׁי בַת־ צִיּ֗וֹן כִּֽי־ אָשִׂ֤ים קַרְנֵ֞ךְ בַּרְזֶל֙ וּפַרְסֹתַ֙יִךְ֙ אָשִׂ֣ים נְחוּשָׁ֔ה וַהֲדִקּ֖וֹת רַבִּ֑ים עַמִּ֣ים וְהַחֲרַמְתִּ֤י בִּצְעָ֔ם לַֽיהוָה֙ וְחֵילָ֖ם לַאֲד֥וֹן כָּל־ הָאָֽרֶץ׃ qū·mî wā·ḏō·wō·šî ḇaṯ- ṣî·yō·wn kî- ’ā·śîm qar·nêḵ bar·zel ū·p̄ar·sō·ṯa·yiḵ ’ā·śîm nə·ḥū·šāh wa·hă·ḏiq·qō·wṯ rab·bîm ‘am·mîm wə·ha·ḥă·ram·tî biṣ·‘ām Yah·weh wə·ḥê·lām la·’ă·ḏō·wn kāl- hā·’ā·reṣ — WLC · 13
