Chapter 66
Heaven Is My Throne
1
This is what the LORD says: “Heaven is My throne, and earth is My footstool… What kind… of house will you build for Me? Or where [will]… My place of repose [be]?
𐤊𐤄 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤀𐤌𐤓 𐤄𐤔𐤌𐤉𐤌 𐤊𐤎𐤀𐤉 𐤅𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 𐤄𐤃𐤌 𐤓𐤂𐤋𐤉 𐤀𐤉 𐤆𐤄 𐤁𐤉𐤕 𐤀𐤔𐤓 𐤕𐤁𐤍𐤅 𐤋𐤉 𐤅𐤀𐤉 𐤆𐤄 𐤌𐤒𐤅𐤌 𐤌𐤍𐤅𐤇𐤕𐤉
כֹּ֚ה יְהוָ֔ה אָמַ֣ר הַשָּׁמַ֣יִם כִּסְאִ֔י וְהָאָ֖רֶץ הֲדֹ֣ם רַגְלָ֑י אֵי־ זֶ֥ה בַ֙יִת֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר תִּבְנוּ־ לִ֔י וְאֵי־ זֶ֥ה מָק֖וֹם מְנוּחָתִֽי׃ kōh Yah·weh ’ā·mar haš·šā·ma·yim kis·’î wə·hā·’ā·reṣ hă·ḏōm raḡ·lāy ’ê- zeh ḇa·yiṯ ’ă·šer tiḇ·nū- lî wə·’ê- zeh mā·qō·wm mə·nū·ḥā·ṯî — WLC · 1

[Has not] My hand made all these things? And so they came into being,” declares the LORD. “… This is the one I will esteem…: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, who trembles at My word. -
𐤉𐤃𐤉 𐤏𐤔𐤕𐤄 𐤊𐤋 𐤀𐤋𐤄 𐤀𐤋𐤄 𐤅𐤉𐤄𐤉𐤅 𐤍𐤀𐤌 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤅𐤀𐤋 𐤆𐤄 𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤈 𐤀𐤋 𐤏𐤍𐤉 𐤅𐤍𐤊𐤄 𐤓𐤅𐤇 𐤅𐤇𐤓𐤃 𐤏𐤋 𐤃𐤁𐤓𐤉 𐤅𐤀𐤕 𐤊𐤋
יָדִ֣י עָשָׂ֔תָה כָל־ אֵ֙לֶּה֙ אֵ֖לֶּה וַיִּהְי֥וּ נְאֻם־ יְהוָ֑ה וְאֶל־ זֶ֣ה אַבִּ֔יט אֶל־ עָנִי֙ וּנְכֵה־ ר֔וּחַ וְחָרֵ֖ד עַל־ דְּבָרִֽי׃ וְאֶת־ כָּל־ yā·ḏî ‘ā·śā·ṯāh ḵāl ’êl·leh ’êl·leh way·yih·yū nə·’um- Yah·weh wə·’el- zeh ’ab·bîṭ ’el- ‘ā·nî ū·nə·ḵêh- rū·aḥ wə·ḥā·rêḏ ‘al- də·ḇā·rî wə·’eṯ- kāl- — WLC · 2

Whoever slaughters an ox is [like] one who slays a man; whoever sacrifices a lamb [is like] one who breaks a dog’s neck; whoever presents a grain offering [is like] one who offers pig’s blood; whoever offers frankincense [is like] one who blesses an idol. Indeed, they have chosen their own ways and delighted in their abominations…
𐤔𐤅𐤇𐤈 𐤄𐤔𐤅𐤓 𐤌𐤊𐤄 𐤀𐤉𐤔 𐤆𐤅𐤁𐤇 𐤄𐤔𐤄 𐤊𐤋𐤁 𐤏𐤓𐤐 𐤌𐤏𐤋𐤄 𐤌𐤍𐤇𐤄 𐤌𐤆𐤊𐤉𐤓 𐤇𐤆𐤉𐤓 𐤃𐤌 𐤋𐤁𐤍𐤄 𐤌𐤁𐤓𐤊 𐤀𐤅𐤍 𐤂𐤌 𐤄𐤌𐤄 𐤁𐤇𐤓𐤅 𐤁𐤃𐤓𐤊𐤉𐤄𐤌 𐤇𐤐𐤑𐤄 𐤅𐤁𐤔𐤒𐤅𐤑𐤉𐤄𐤌 𐤍𐤐𐤔𐤌
שׁוֹחֵ֨ט הַשּׁ֜וֹר מַכֵּה־ אִ֗ישׁ זוֹבֵ֤חַ הַשֶּׂה֙ כֶּ֔לֶב עֹ֣רֵֽף מַעֲלֵ֤ה מִנְחָה֙ מַזְכִּ֥יר חֲזִ֔יר דַּם־ לְבֹנָ֖ה מְבָ֣רֵֽךְ אָ֑וֶן גַּם־ הֵ֗מָּה בָּֽחֲרוּ֙ בְּדַרְכֵיהֶ֔ם חָפֵֽצָה׃ וּבְשִׁקּוּצֵיהֶ֖ם נַפְשָׁ֥ם šō·w·ḥêṭ haš·šō·wr mak·kêh- ’îš zō·w·ḇê·aḥ haś·śeh ke·leḇ ‘ō·rêp̄ ma·‘ă·lêh min·ḥāh maz·kîr ḥă·zîr dam- lə·ḇō·nāh mə·ḇā·rêḵ ’ā·wen gam- hêm·māh bā·ḥă·rū bə·ḏar·ḵê·hem ḥā·p̄ê·ṣāh ū·ḇə·šiq·qū·ṣê·hem nap̄·šām — WLC · 3

So I will choose their punishment and I will bring terror upon them, because I called and no one answered, I spoke and no one listened. But they did evil in My sight and chose that in which I did not delight.”

גַּם־ אֲנִ֞י אֶבְחַ֣ר בְּתַעֲלֻלֵיהֶ֗ם אָבִ֣יא וּמְגֽוּרֹתָם֙ לָהֶ֔ם יַ֤עַן קָרָ֙אתִי֙ וְאֵ֣ין עוֹנֶ֔ה דִּבַּ֖רְתִּי וְלֹ֣א שָׁמֵ֑עוּ וַיַּעֲשׂ֤וּ הָרַע֙ בְּעֵינַ֔י בָּחָֽרוּ׃ס וּבַאֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹֽא־ חָפַ֖צְתִּי gam- ’ă·nî ’eḇ·ḥar bə·ṯa·‘ă·lu·lê·hem ’ā·ḇî ū·mə·ḡū·rō·ṯām lā·hem ya·‘an qā·rā·ṯî wə·’ên ‘ō·w·neh dib·bar·tî wə·lō šā·mê·‘ū way·ya·‘ă·śū hā·ra‘ bə·‘ê·nay bā·ḥā·rū ū·ḇa·’ă·šer lō- ḥā·p̄aṣ·tî — WLC · 4

You who tremble at His word, hear the word of the LORD: “Your brothers who hate you and exclude you because of My name have said, ‘Let the LORD be glorified that we may see your joy!’ But they will be put to shame.”

הַחֲרֵדִ֖ים אֶל־ דְּבָר֑וֹ שִׁמְעוּ֙ דְּבַר־ יְהוָ֔ה אֲחֵיכֶ֨ם שֹׂנְאֵיכֶ֜ם מְנַדֵּיכֶ֗ם לְמַ֤עַן שְׁמִי֙ אָמְרוּ֩ יְהוָ֔ה יִכְבַּ֣ד וְנִרְאֶ֥ה בְשִׂמְחַתְכֶ֖ם וְהֵ֥ם יֵבֹֽשׁוּ׃ ha·ḥă·rê·ḏîm ’el- də·ḇā·rōw šim·‘ū də·ḇar- Yah·weh ’ă·ḥê·ḵem śō·nə·’ê·ḵem mə·nad·dê·ḵem lə·ma·‘an šə·mî ’ā·mə·rū Yah·weh yiḵ·baḏ wə·nir·’eh ḇə·śim·ḥaṯ·ḵem wə·hêm yê·ḇō·šū — WLC · 5

Hear the uproar from the city; [listen to] the voice from the temple! [It is] the voice of the LORD, repaying His enemies what they deserve!

Rejoice with Jerusalem

“Before she was in labor, she gave birth; before… she was in pain she delivered a boy.
𐤁𐤈𐤓𐤌 𐤕𐤇𐤉𐤋 𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤄 𐤁𐤈𐤓𐤌 𐤉𐤁𐤅𐤀 𐤇𐤁𐤋 𐤋𐤄 𐤅𐤄𐤌𐤋𐤉𐤈𐤄 𐤆𐤊𐤓
בְּטֶ֥רֶם תָּחִ֖יל יָלָ֑דָה בְּטֶ֨רֶם יָב֥וֹא חֵ֛בֶל לָ֖הּ וְהִמְלִ֥יטָה זָכָֽר׃ bə·ṭe·rem tā·ḥîl yā·lā·ḏāh bə·ṭe·rem yā·ḇō·w ḥê·ḇel lāh wə·him·lî·ṭāh zā·ḵār — WLC · 7

Who has heard of such as this? Who has seen such things? Can a country be born in a day or a nation be delivered in an instant…? Yet as soon as Zion was in labor,… she gave birth to her children.

מִֽי־ שָׁמַ֣ע כָּזֹ֗את מִ֤י רָאָה֙ כָּאֵ֔לֶּה אֶ֙רֶץ֙ הֲי֤וּחַל אֶחָ֔ד בְּי֣וֹם אִם־ גּ֖וֹי יִוָּ֥לֵֽד פַּ֣עַם אֶחָ֑ת כִּֽי־ צִיּ֖וֹן אֶת־ חָ֛לָה גַּם־ יָלְדָ֥ה בָּנֶֽיהָ׃ mî- šā·ma‘ kā·zōṯ mî rā·’āh kā·’êl·leh ’e·reṣ hă·yū·ḥal ’e·ḥāḏ bə·yō·wm ’im- gō·w yiw·wā·lêḏ pa·‘am ’e·ḥāṯ kî- ṣî·yō·wn ’eṯ- ḥā·lāh gam- yā·lə·ḏāh bā·ne·hā — WLC · 8

Shall I bring a baby to the point of birth and not deliver it?” says the LORD. “Or will I who deliver close the womb?” says your God.

הַאֲנִ֥י אַשְׁבִּ֛יר וְלֹ֥א אוֹלִ֖יד יֹאמַ֣ר יְהוָ֑ה אִם־ אֲנִ֧י הַמּוֹלִ֛יד וְעָצַ֖רְתִּי אָמַ֥ר אֱלֹהָֽיִךְ׃ס ha·’ă·nî ’aš·bîr wə·lō ’ō·w·lîḏ yō·mar Yah·weh ’im- ’ă·nî ham·mō·w·lîḏ wə·‘ā·ṣar·tî ’ā·mar ’ĕ·lō·hā·yiḵ — WLC · 9

Be glad for Jerusalem and rejoice over her, all who love her. Rejoice greatly… with her, all who mourn over her,

שִׂמְח֧וּ אֶת־ יְרוּשָׁלִַ֛ם וְגִ֥ילוּ בָ֖הּ כָּל־ אֹהֲבֶ֑יהָ שִׂ֤ישׂוּ מָשׂ֔וֹשׂ אִתָּהּ֙ כָּל־ הַמִּֽתְאַבְּלִ֖ים עָלֶֽיהָ׃ śim·ḥū ’eṯ- yə·rū·šā·lim wə·ḡî·lū ḇāh kāl- ’ō·hă·ḇe·hā śî·śū mā·śō·wś ’it·tāh kāl- ham·miṯ·’ab·bə·lîm ‘ā·le·hā — WLC · 10

so that you may nurse and be satisfied at her comforting… breasts; you may drink deeply and delight yourselves in her glorious abundance.

לְמַ֤עַן תִּֽינְקוּ֙ וּשְׂבַעְתֶּ֔ם תַּנְחֻמֶ֑יהָ לְמַ֧עַן מִשֹּׁ֖ד תָּמֹ֛צּוּ וְהִתְעַנַּגְתֶּ֖ם כְּבוֹדָֽהּ׃ס מִזִּ֥יז lə·ma·‘an tî·nə·qū ū·śə·ḇa‘·tem tan·ḥu·me·hā lə·ma·‘an miš·šōḏ tā·mōṣ·ṣū wə·hiṯ·‘an·naḡ·tem kə·ḇō·w·ḏāh miz·zîz — WLC · 11

For this is what the LORD… says: “I will extend peace to her like a river, and the wealth of nations like a flowing stream; you will nurse and be carried on her arm, and bounced upon [her] knees.

כִּֽי־ כֹ֣ה׀ יְהוָ֗ה הִנְנִ֣י אָמַ֣ר נֹטֶֽה־ שָׁל֜וֹם אֵ֠לֶיהָ כְּנָהָ֨ר כְּב֥וֹד גּוֹיִ֖ם שׁוֹטֵ֛ף וּכְנַ֧חַל וִֽינַקְתֶּ֑ם תִּנָּשֵׂ֔אוּ עַל־ צַד֙ תְּשָׁעֳשָֽׁעוּ׃ וְעַל־ בִּרְכַּ֖יִם kî- ḵōh Yah·weh hin·nî ’ā·mar nō·ṭeh- šā·lō·wm ’ê·le·hā kə·nā·hār kə·ḇō·wḏ gō·w·yim šō·w·ṭêp̄ ū·ḵə·na·ḥal wî·naq·tem tin·nā·śê·’ū ‘al- ṣaḏ tə·šā·‘o·šā·‘ū wə·‘al- bir·ka·yim — WLC · 12

- As a mother comforts her son, so vvv will I comfort you, and you will be consoled over Jerusalem.”

כְּאִ֕ישׁ אֲשֶׁ֥ר אִמּ֖וֹ תְּנַחֲמֶ֑נּוּ כֵּ֤ן אָֽנֹכִי֙ אֲנַ֣חֶמְכֶ֔ם תְּנֻחָֽמוּ׃ וּבִירֽוּשָׁלִַ֖ם kə·’îš ’ă·šer ’im·mōw tə·na·ḥă·men·nū kên ’ā·nō·ḵî ’ă·na·ḥem·ḵem tə·nu·ḥā·mū ū·ḇî·rū·šā·lim — WLC · 13

When you see, you will rejoice, and you will flourish like grass; then the hand of the LORD will be revealed to His servants, but His wrath will be shown to His enemies.

וּרְאִיתֶם֙ לִבְּכֶ֔ם וְשָׂ֣שׂ וְעַצְמוֹתֵיכֶ֖ם תִפְרַ֑חְנָה כַּדֶּ֣שֶׁא יַד־ יְהוָה֙ וְנוֹדְעָ֤ה אֶת־ עֲבָדָ֔יו וְזָעַ֖ם אֶת־ אֹיְבָֽיו׃ ū·rə·’î·ṯem lib·bə·ḵem wə·śāś wə·‘aṣ·mō·w·ṯê·ḵem ṯip̄·raḥ·nāh kad·de·še yaḏ- Yah·weh wə·nō·wḏ·‘āh ’eṯ- ‘ă·ḇā·ḏāw wə·zā·‘am ’eṯ- ’ō·yə·ḇāw — WLC · 14
Final Judgments against the Wicked

For behold, the LORD will come with fire— His chariots are like a whirlwind— to execute His anger with fury and His rebuke with flames of fire.

כִּֽי־ הִנֵּ֤ה יְהוָה֙ יָב֔וֹא בָּאֵ֣שׁ מַרְכְּבֹתָ֑יו וְכַסּוּפָ֖ה לְהָשִׁ֤יב אַפּ֔וֹ בְּחֵמָה֙ וְגַעֲרָת֖וֹ בְּלַהֲבֵי־ אֵֽשׁ׃ kî- hin·nêh Yah·weh yā·ḇō·w bā·’êš mar·kə·ḇō·ṯāw wə·ḵas·sū·p̄āh lə·hā·šîḇ ’ap·pōw bə·ḥê·māh wə·ḡa·‘ă·rā·ṯōw bə·la·hă·ḇê- ’êš — WLC · 15

For by fire and by His sword, the LORD will execute judgment on all flesh, and many will be slain by the LORD.

כִּ֤י בָאֵשׁ֙ וּבְחַרְבּ֖וֹ יְהוָ֣ה נִשְׁפָּ֔ט אֶת־ כָּל־ בָּשָׂ֑ר וְרַבּ֖וּ חַֽלְלֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃ kî ḇā·’êš ū·ḇə·ḥar·bōw Yah·weh niš·pāṭ ’eṯ- kāl- bā·śār wə·rab·bū ḥal·lê Yah·weh — WLC · 16

“Those who consecrate and purify themselves to enter the groves— to follow one in the center of those who eat the flesh of swine and vermin and rats— will perish together,” declares the LORD.

“And I, [knowing] their deeds and thoughts, am coming to gather all nations and tongues, and they will come and see My glory.

I will establish a sign among them, and I will send survivors from among them to the nations— to Tarshish, Put, and the archers… of Lud; [to] Tubal, Javan, and the islands far away who have not heard of My fame… or seen My glory. So they will proclaim My glory among the nations.

וְשַׂמְתִּ֨י א֗וֹת בָהֶ֜ם וְשִׁלַּחְתִּ֣י פְּ֠לֵיטִים מֵהֶ֣ם׀ אֶֽל־ הַגּוֹיִ֞ם תַּרְשִׁ֨ישׁ פּ֥וּל מֹ֥שְׁכֵי קֶ֖שֶׁת וְל֛וּד תֻּבַ֣ל וְיָוָ֑ן הָאִיִּ֣ים הָרְחֹקִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֨ר לֹא־ שָׁמְע֤וּ אֶת־ שִׁמְעִי֙ וְלֹא־ רָא֣וּ אֶת־ כְּבוֹדִ֔י וְהִגִּ֥ידוּ אֶת־ כְּבוֹדִ֖י בַּגּוֹיִֽם׃ wə·śam·tî ’ō·wṯ ḇā·hem wə·šil·laḥ·tî pə·lê·ṭîm mê·hem ’el- hag·gō·w·yim tar·šîš pūl mō·šə·ḵê qe·šeṯ wə·lūḏ tu·ḇal wə·yā·wān hā·’î·yîm hā·rə·ḥō·qîm ’ă·šer lō- šā·mə·‘ū ’eṯ- šim·‘î wə·lō- rā·’ū ’eṯ- kə·ḇō·w·ḏî wə·hig·gî·ḏū ’eṯ- kə·ḇō·w·ḏî bag·gō·w·yim — WLC · 19

And they will bring all your brothers from all the nations as a gift to the LORD on horses and chariots and wagons, on mules and camels, to My holy mountain Jerusalem,” says the LORD, “just as the Israelites… bring an offering in a clean vessel to the house of the LORD.”

“And I will select some of them as priests and Levites,” says the LORD.

“For just as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, will endure before Me,” declares the LORD, “so your descendants and your name will endure.

- From one New Moon to another and from one Sabbath to another, all mankind will come to worship before Me,” says the LORD.

“As they go forth, they will see the corpses of the men who have rebelled against Me; for their worm will never die, their fire will never be quenched, and they will be a horror to all mankind.”
