Chapter 25

Praise to the Victorious God

1

O LORD, You are my God! I will exalt You; I will praise Your name. For You have worked wonders— plans [formed] long ago— in perfect faithfulness…

𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤀𐤕𐤄 𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉 𐤀𐤓𐤅𐤌𐤌𐤊 𐤀𐤅𐤃𐤄 𐤔𐤌𐤊 𐤊𐤉 𐤏𐤔𐤉𐤕 𐤐𐤋𐤀 𐤏𐤑𐤅𐤕 𐤌𐤓𐤇𐤅𐤒 𐤀𐤌𐤅𐤍𐤄 𐤀𐤌𐤍

יְהוָ֤ה אַתָּ֔ה אֱלֹהַי֙ אֲרֽוֹמִמְךָ֙ אוֹדֶ֣ה שִׁמְךָ֔ כִּ֥י עָשִׂ֖יתָ פֶּ֑לֶא עֵצ֥וֹת מֵֽרָח֖וֹק אֱמ֥וּנָה אֹֽמֶן׃ Yah·weh ’at·tāh ’ĕ·lō·hay ’ă·rō·w·mim·ḵā ’ō·w·ḏeh šim·ḵā kî ‘ā·śî·ṯā pe·le ‘ê·ṣō·wṯ mê·rā·ḥō·wq ’ĕ·mū·nāh ’ō·menWLC · 1

Indeed, You have made the city a heap of rubble, the fortified town a ruin. The fortress of strangers [is] a city [no more]; it will never… be rebuilt.

𐤊𐤉 𐤔𐤌𐤕 𐤌𐤏𐤉𐤓 𐤋𐤂𐤋 𐤁𐤑𐤅𐤓𐤄 𐤒𐤓𐤉𐤄 𐤋𐤌𐤐𐤋𐤄 𐤀𐤓𐤌𐤅𐤍 𐤆𐤓𐤉𐤌 𐤌𐤏𐤉𐤓 𐤋𐤏𐤅𐤋𐤌 𐤋𐤀 𐤉𐤁𐤍𐤄

כִּ֣י שַׂ֤מְתָּ מֵעִיר֙ לַגָּ֔ל בְצוּרָ֖ה קִרְיָ֥ה לְמַפֵּלָ֑ה אַרְמ֤וֹן זָרִים֙ מֵעִ֔יר לְעוֹלָ֖ם לֹ֥א יִבָּנֶֽה׃ kî śam·tā mê·‘îr lag·gāl ḇə·ṣū·rāh qir·yāh lə·map·pê·lāh ’ar·mō·wn zā·rîm mê·‘îr lə·‘ō·w·lām lō yib·bā·nehWLC · 2

Therefore…, a strong people will honor You. The cities of ruthless nations will revere You.

𐤏𐤋 𐤊𐤍 𐤏𐤆 𐤏𐤌 𐤉𐤊𐤁𐤃𐤅𐤊 𐤒𐤓𐤉𐤕 𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤑𐤉𐤌 𐤂𐤅𐤉𐤌 𐤉𐤉𐤓𐤀𐤅𐤊

עַל־ כֵּ֖ן עָ֑ז עַם־ יְכַבְּד֣וּךָ קִרְיַ֛ת עָרִיצִ֖ים גּוֹיִ֥ם יִירָאֽוּךָ׃ ‘al- kên ‘āz ‘am- yə·ḵab·bə·ḏū·ḵā qir·yaṯ ‘ā·rî·ṣîm gō·w·yim yî·rā·’ū·ḵāWLC · 3

For You have been a refuge for the poor, a stronghold for the needy in distress a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat. For the breath of the ruthless is like rain against a wall,

𐤊𐤉 𐤄𐤉𐤉𐤕 𐤌𐤏𐤅𐤆 𐤋𐤃𐤋 𐤌𐤏𐤅𐤆 𐤋𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤅𐤍 𐤁𐤑𐤓 𐤋𐤅 𐤌𐤇𐤎𐤄 𐤌𐤆𐤓𐤌 𐤑𐤋 𐤌𐤇𐤓𐤁 𐤊𐤉 𐤓𐤅𐤇 𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤑𐤉𐤌 𐤊𐤆𐤓𐤌 𐤒𐤉𐤓

כִּֽי־ הָיִ֨יתָ מָע֥וֹז לַדָּ֛ל מָע֥וֹז לָאֶבְי֖וֹן בַּצַּר־ ל֑וֹ מַחְסֶ֤ה מִזֶּ֙רֶם֙ צֵ֣ל מֵחֹ֔רֶב כִּ֛י ר֥וּחַ עָרִיצִ֖ים כְּזֶ֥רֶם קִֽיר׃ kî- hā·yî·ṯā mā·‘ō·wz lad·dāl mā·‘ō·wz lā·’eḇ·yō·wn baṣ·ṣar- lōw maḥ·seh miz·ze·rem ṣêl mê·ḥō·reḇ kî rū·aḥ ‘ā·rî·ṣîm kə·ze·rem qîrWLC · 4

like heat in a dry land. You subdue the uproar of foreigners. As the shade of a cloud cools the heat, so the song of the ruthless is silenced.

𐤊𐤇𐤓𐤁 𐤁𐤑𐤉𐤅𐤍 𐤕𐤊𐤍𐤉𐤏 𐤔𐤀𐤅𐤍 𐤆𐤓𐤉𐤌 𐤁𐤑𐤋 𐤏𐤁 𐤇𐤓𐤁 𐤆𐤌𐤉𐤓 𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤑𐤉𐤌 𐤉𐤏𐤍𐤄𐤐

כְּחֹ֣רֶב בְּצָי֔וֹן תַּכְנִ֑יעַ שְׁא֥וֹן זָרִ֖ים בְּצֵ֣ל עָ֔ב חֹ֚רֶב זְמִ֥יר עָֽרִיצִ֖ים יַעֲנֶֽה׃פ kə·ḥō·reḇ bə·ṣā·yō·wn taḵ·nî·a‘ šə·’ō·wn zā·rîm bə·ṣêl ‘āḇ ḥō·reḇ zə·mîr ‘ā·rî·ṣîm ya·‘ă·nehWLC · 5

On this mountain the LORD of Hosts will prepare a lavish banquet for all the peoples, a feast of aged wine, of choice meat…, of finely aged wine.

𐤄𐤆𐤄 𐤁𐤄𐤓 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤑𐤁𐤀𐤅𐤕 𐤅𐤏𐤔𐤄 𐤔𐤌𐤍𐤉𐤌 𐤌𐤔𐤕𐤄 𐤋𐤊𐤋 𐤄𐤏𐤌𐤉𐤌 𐤌𐤔𐤕𐤄 𐤔𐤌𐤓𐤉𐤌 𐤔𐤌𐤍𐤉𐤌 𐤌𐤌𐤇𐤉𐤌 𐤌𐤆𐤒𐤒𐤉𐤌 𐤔𐤌𐤓𐤉𐤌

הַזֶּ֔ה בָּהָ֣ר יְהוָ֨ה צְבָא֜וֹת וְעָשָׂה֩ שְׁמָנִ֖ים מִשְׁתֵּ֥ה לְכָל־ הָֽעַמִּים֙ מִשְׁתֵּ֣ה שְׁמָרִ֑ים שְׁמָנִים֙ מְמֻ֣חָיִ֔ם מְזֻקָּקִֽים׃ שְׁמָרִ֖ים haz·zeh bā·hār Yah·weh ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ wə·‘ā·śāh šə·mā·nîm miš·têh lə·ḵāl hā·‘am·mîm miš·têh šə·mā·rîm šə·mā·nîm mə·mu·ḥā·yim mə·zuq·qā·qîm šə·mā·rîmWLC · 6

On this… mountain He will swallow up the shroud that enfolds… all peoples, the sheet that covers… all nations;

𐤄𐤆𐤄 𐤐𐤍𐤉 𐤁𐤄𐤓 𐤅𐤁𐤋𐤏 𐤄𐤋𐤅𐤈 𐤄𐤋𐤅𐤈 𐤏𐤋 𐤊𐤋 𐤄𐤏𐤌𐤉𐤌 𐤅𐤄𐤌𐤎𐤊𐤄 𐤄𐤍𐤎𐤅𐤊𐤄 𐤏𐤋 𐤊𐤋 𐤄𐤂𐤅𐤉𐤌

הַזֶּ֔ה פְּנֵֽי־ בָּהָ֣ר וּבִלַּע֙ הַלּ֖וֹט הַלּ֥וֹט׀ עַל־ כָּל־ הָֽעַמִּ֑ים וְהַמַּסֵּכָ֥ה הַנְּסוּכָ֖ה עַל־ כָּל־ הַגּוֹיִֽם׃ haz·zeh pə·nê- bā·hār ū·ḇil·la‘ hal·lō·wṭ hal·lō·wṭ ‘al- kāl- hā·‘am·mîm wə·ham·mas·sê·ḵāh han·nə·sū·ḵāh ‘al- kāl- hag·gō·w·yimWLC · 7

He will swallow up death forever. The Lord GOD will wipe away the tears from every face and remove the disgrace of His people from the whole earth. For the LORD has spoken.

𐤁𐤋𐤏 𐤄𐤌𐤅𐤕 𐤋𐤍𐤑𐤇 𐤀𐤃𐤍𐤉 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤅𐤌𐤇𐤄 𐤃𐤌𐤏𐤄 𐤌𐤏𐤋 𐤊𐤋 𐤐𐤍𐤉𐤌 𐤉𐤎𐤉𐤓 𐤅𐤇𐤓𐤐𐤕 𐤏𐤌𐤅 𐤌𐤏𐤋 𐤊𐤋 𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 𐤊𐤉 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤃𐤁𐤓𐤐

בִּלַּ֤ע הַמָּ֙וֶת֙ לָנֶ֔צַח אֲדֹנָ֧י יְהוִ֛ה וּמָחָ֨ה דִּמְעָ֖ה מֵעַ֣ל כָּל־ פָּנִ֑ים יָסִיר֙ וְחֶרְפַּ֣ת עַמּ֗וֹ מֵעַ֣ל כָּל־ הָאָ֔רֶץ כִּ֥י יְהוָ֖ה דִּבֵּֽר׃פ bil·la‘ ham·mā·weṯ lā·ne·ṣaḥ ’ă·ḏō·nāy Yah·weh ū·mā·ḥāh dim·‘āh mê·‘al kāl- pā·nîm yā·sîr wə·ḥer·paṯ ‘am·mōw mê·‘al kāl- hā·’ā·reṣ kî Yah·weh dib·bêrWLC · 8

And in that day it will be said, “Surely this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He has saved us. This is the LORD for whom we have waited Let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation.”

𐤄𐤄𐤅𐤀 𐤁𐤉𐤅𐤌 𐤅𐤀𐤌𐤓 𐤄𐤍𐤄 𐤆𐤄 𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤍𐤅 𐤒𐤅𐤉𐤍𐤅 𐤋𐤅 𐤅𐤉𐤅𐤔𐤉𐤏𐤍𐤅 𐤆𐤄 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤒𐤅𐤉𐤍𐤅 𐤋𐤅 𐤍𐤂𐤉𐤋𐤄 𐤅𐤍𐤔𐤌𐤇𐤄 𐤁𐤉𐤔𐤅𐤏𐤕𐤅

הַה֔וּא בַּיּ֣וֹם וְאָמַר֙ הִנֵּ֨ה זֶ֛ה אֱלֹהֵ֥ינוּ קִוִּ֥ינוּ ל֖וֹ וְיֽוֹשִׁיעֵ֑נוּ זֶ֤ה יְהוָה֙ קִוִּ֣ינוּ ל֔וֹ נָגִ֥ילָה וְנִשְׂמְחָ֖ה בִּישׁוּעָתֽוֹ׃ ha·hū bay·yō·wm wə·’ā·mar hin·nêh zeh ’ĕ·lō·hê·nū qiw·wî·nū lōw wə·yō·wō·šî·‘ê·nū zeh Yah·weh qiw·wî·nū lōw nā·ḡî·lāh wə·niś·mə·ḥāh bî·šū·‘ā·ṯōwWLC · 9

For the hand of the LORD will rest on this mountain. But Moab will be trampled in his place as straw… is trodden into the dung pile.

𐤊𐤉 𐤉𐤃 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤕𐤍𐤅𐤇 𐤄𐤆𐤄 𐤁𐤄𐤓 𐤌𐤅𐤀𐤁 𐤅𐤍𐤃𐤅𐤔 𐤕𐤇𐤕𐤉𐤅 𐤌𐤕𐤁𐤍 𐤁𐤌𐤉 𐤊𐤄𐤃𐤅𐤔 𐤌𐤃𐤌𐤍𐤄

כִּֽי־ יַד־ יְהוָ֖ה תָנ֥וּחַ הַזֶּ֑ה בָּהָ֣ר מוֹאָב֙ וְנָ֤דוֹשׁ תַּחְתָּ֔יו מַתְבֵּ֖ן בְּמֵי כְּהִדּ֥וּשׁ מַדְמֵנָֽה׃ kî- yaḏ- Yah·weh ṯā·nū·aḥ haz·zeh bā·hār mō·w·’āḇ wə·nā·ḏō·wōš taḥ·tāw maṯ·bên bə·mē kə·hid·dūš maḏ·mê·nāhWLC · 10

He will spread out his hands within it, as a swimmer spreads [his arms] to swim. His pride will be brought low, despite the skill of his hands.

𐤅𐤐𐤓𐤔 𐤉𐤃𐤉𐤅 𐤁𐤒𐤓𐤁𐤅 𐤊𐤀𐤔𐤓 𐤄𐤔𐤇𐤄 𐤉𐤐𐤓𐤔 𐤋𐤔𐤇𐤅𐤕 𐤂𐤀𐤅𐤕𐤅 𐤅𐤄𐤔𐤐𐤉𐤋 𐤏𐤌 𐤀𐤓𐤁𐤅𐤕 𐤉𐤃𐤉𐤅

וּפֵרַ֤שׂ יָדָיו֙ בְּקִרְבּ֔וֹ כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר הַשֹּׂחֶ֖ה יְפָרֵ֥שׂ לִשְׂח֑וֹת גַּֽאֲוָת֔וֹ וְהִשְׁפִּיל֙ עִ֖ם אָרְבּ֥וֹת יָדָֽיו׃ ū·p̄ê·raś yā·ḏāw bə·qir·bōw ka·’ă·šer haś·śō·ḥeh yə·p̄ā·rêś liś·ḥō·wṯ ga·’ă·wā·ṯōw wə·hiš·pîl ‘im ’ā·rə·bō·wṯ yā·ḏāwWLC · 11

The high-walled… fortress will be brought down,… cast to the ground, into the dust.

מִשְׂגַּ֣ב חוֹמֹתֶ֗יךָ וּמִבְצַ֞ר הֵשַׁ֥ח הִשְׁפִּ֛יל הִגִּ֥יעַ לָאָ֖רֶץ עַד־ עָפָֽר׃ס miś·gaḇ ḥō·w·mō·ṯe·ḵā ū·miḇ·ṣar hê·šaḥ hiš·pîl hig·gî·a‘ lā·’ā·reṣ ‘aḏ- ‘ā·p̄ārWLC · 12
