The LORD Is My Strength

Of David. 1To You, O LORD, I call; be not deaf to me, O my Rock. For if You remain silent…, I will be like those descending to the Pit.

לְדָוִ֡ד אֵ֘לֶ֤יךָ יְהוָ֨ה׀ אֶקְרָ֗א אַֽל־ תֶּחֱרַ֪שׁ מִ֫מֶּ֥נִּי צוּרִי֮ פֶּן־ תֶּֽחֱשֶׁ֥ה מִמֶּ֑נִּי וְ֝נִמְשַׁ֗לְתִּי עִם־ י֥וֹרְדֵי בֽוֹר׃ lə·ḏā·wiḏ ’ê·le·ḵā Yah·weh ’eq·rā ’al- te·ḥĕ·raš mim·men·nî ṣū·rî pen- te·ḥĕ·šeh mim·men·nî wə·nim·šal·tî ‘im- yō·wr·ḏê ḇō·wr — WLC · 1

Hear my cry for mercy when I call to You {for help}, when I lift up my hands toward Your holy sanctuary.

שְׁמַ֤ע ק֣וֹל תַּ֭חֲנוּנַי בְּשַׁוְּעִ֣י אֵלֶ֑יךָ בְּנָשְׂאִ֥י יָ֝דַ֗י אֶל־ קָדְשֶֽׁךָ׃ דְּבִ֥יר šə·ma‘ qō·wl ta·ḥă·nū·nay bə·šaw·wə·‘î ’ê·le·ḵā bə·nā·śə·’î yā·ḏay ’el- qāḏ·še·ḵā də·ḇîr — WLC · 2

Do not drag me away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, who speak peace to their neighbors while malice is in their hearts.

אַל־ תִּמְשְׁכֵ֣נִי עִם־ רְשָׁעִים֮ וְעִם־ פֹּ֪עֲלֵ֫י אָ֥וֶן דֹּבְרֵ֣י שָׁ֭לוֹם עִם־ רֵֽעֵיהֶ֑ם וְ֝רָעָ֗ה בִּלְבָבָֽם׃ ’al- tim·šə·ḵê·nî ‘im- rə·šā·‘îm wə·‘im- pō·‘ă·lê ’ā·wen dō·ḇə·rê šā·lôm ‘im- rê·‘ê·hem wə·rā·‘āh bil·ḇā·ḇām — WLC · 3

Repay them according to their deeds and for their works of evil. Repay them for what their hands have done; bring back on them what they deserve.

תֶּן־ לָהֶ֣ם כְּפָעֳלָם֮ מַֽעַלְלֵ֫יהֶ֥ם וּכְרֹ֪עַ תֵּ֣ן לָהֶ֑ם יְ֭דֵיהֶם כְּמַעֲשֵׂ֣ה הָשֵׁ֖ב לָהֶֽם׃ גְּמוּלָ֣ם ten- lā·hem kə·p̄ā·‘o·lām ma·‘al·lê·hem ū·ḵə·rō·a‘ tên lā·hem yə·ḏê·hem kə·ma·‘ă·śêh hā·šêḇ lā·hem gə·mū·lām — WLC · 4

Since they show no regard… for the works of the LORD or what His hands have done, He will tear them down and never rebuild them.

כִּ֤י לֹ֤א יָבִ֡ינוּ אֶל־ פְּעֻלֹּ֣ת יְ֭הוָה וְאֶל־ יָדָ֑יו מַעֲשֵׂ֣ה יֶ֝הֶרְסֵ֗ם וְלֹ֣א יִבְנֵֽם׃ kî lō yā·ḇî·nū ’el- pə·‘ul·lōṯ Yah·weh wə·’el- yā·ḏāw ma·‘ă·śêh ye·her·sêm wə·lō yiḇ·nêm — WLC · 5

Blessed be the LORD, for He has heard my cry for mercy.

בָּר֥וּךְ יְהוָ֑ה כִּי־ שָׁ֝מַע ק֣וֹל תַּחֲנוּנָֽי׃ bā·rūḵ Yah·weh kî·šā- šā·maʿ qō·wl ta·ḥă·nū·nāy — WLC · 6

The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped. Therefore my heart rejoices, and I give thanks to Him with my song.

יְהוָ֤ה׀ עֻזִּ֥י וּמָגִנִּי֮ לִבִּ֗י בָטַ֥ח בּ֤וֹ וְֽנֶ֫עֱזָ֥רְתִּי לִבִּ֑י וַיַּעֲלֹ֥ז אֲהוֹדֶֽנּוּ׃ וּֽמִשִּׁירִ֥י Yah·weh ‘uz·zî ū·mā·ḡin·nî lib·bî ḇā·ṭaḥ bōw wə·ne·‘ĕ·zā·rə·tî lib·bî way·ya·‘ă·lōz ’ă·hō·w·ḏen·nū ū·miš·šî·rî — WLC · 7

The LORD is the strength of His people a stronghold of salvation for His anointed

Save Your people and bless Your inheritance; shepherd them and carry them forever.

הוֹשִׁ֤יעָה׀ אֶת־ עַמֶּ֗ךָ וּבָרֵ֥ךְ אֶת־ נַחֲלָתֶ֑ךָ וּֽרְעֵ֥ם וְ֝נַשְּׂאֵ֗ם עַד־ הָעוֹלָֽם׃ hō·wō·šî·‘āh ’eṯ- ‘am·me·ḵā ū·ḇā·rêḵ ’eṯ- na·ḥă·lā·ṯe·ḵā ū·rə·‘êm wə·naś·śə·’êm ‘aḏ- hā·‘ō·w·lām — WLC · 9
