Tell of His Wonders
1
Give thanks to the LORD, call upon His name; make known His deeds among the nations.

Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; tell of all His wonders.

Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.

Seek out the LORD and His strength; seek His face always.

Remember the wonders He has done, His marvels, and the judgments He has pronounced,

O offspring of His servant Abraham, O sons of Jacob, His chosen ones.

He is the LORD our God; His judgments [carry] throughout the earth.

ה֭וּא יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ מִשְׁפָּטָֽיו׃ בְּכָל־ הָ֝אָ֗רֶץ hū Yah·weh ’ĕ·lō·hê·nū miš·pā·ṭāw bə·ḵāl hā·’ā·reṣ — WLC · 7

He remembers His covenant forever, the word He ordained for a thousand generations—

[the covenant] He made with Abraham, and the oath He swore to Isaac.

אֲשֶׁ֣ר כָּ֭רַת אֶת־ אַבְרָהָ֑ם וּשְׁב֖וּעָת֣וֹ לְיִשְׂחָֽק׃ ’ă·šer kā·raṯ ’eṯ- ’aḇ·rā·hām ū·šə·ḇū·‘ā·ṯōw lə·yiś·ḥāq — WLC · 9

He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant:

וַיַּֽעֲמִידֶ֣הָ לְיַעֲקֹ֣ב לְחֹ֑ק לְ֝יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל עוֹלָֽם׃ בְּרִ֣ית way·ya·‘ă·mî·ḏe·hā lə·ya·‘ă·qōḇ lə·ḥōq lə·yiś·rā·’êl ‘ō·w·lām bə·rîṯ — WLC · 10

“- I will give you the land of Canaan as the portion of your inheritance.”

לֵאמֹ֗ר אֶתֵּ֥ן לְךָ֗ אֶת־ אֶֽרֶץ־ כְּנָ֑עַן חֶ֝֗בֶל נַחֲלַתְכֶֽם׃ lê·mōr ’et·tên lə·ḵā ’eṯ- ’e·reṣ- kə·nā·‘an ḥe·ḇel na·ḥă·laṯ·ḵem — WLC · 11

When they were few in number, few indeed, and strangers in [the land],

בִּֽ֭הְיוֹתָם מְתֵ֣י מִסְפָּ֑ר כִּ֝מְעַ֗ט וְגָרִ֥ים בָּֽהּ׃ bih·yō·w·ṯām mə·ṯê mis·pār kim·‘aṭ wə·ḡā·rîm bāh — WLC · 12

they wandered from nation to nation, from [one] kingdom to… another.

וַֽ֭יִּתְהַלְּכוּ מִגּ֣וֹי אֶל־ גּ֑וֹי מִ֝מַּמְלָכָ֗ה אֶל־ עַ֥ם אַחֵֽר׃ way·yiṯ·hal·lə·ḵū mig·gō·w ’el- gō·w mim·mam·lā·ḵāh ’el- ‘am ’a·ḥêr — WLC · 13

He let no man oppress them; He rebuked kings on their behalf:

הִנִּ֣יחַ לֹֽא־ אָדָ֣ם לְעָשְׁקָ֑ם וַיּ֖וֹכַח מְלָכִֽים׃ עֲלֵיהֶ֣ם hin·nî·aḥ lō- ’ā·ḏām lə·‘ā·šə·qām way·yō·w·ḵaḥ mə·lā·ḵîm ‘ă·lê·hem — WLC · 14

“Do not touch My anointed ones! Do no harm… to My prophets!”

אַֽל־ תִּגְּע֥וּ בִמְשִׁיחָ֑י תָּרֵֽעוּ׃ אַל־ וְ֝לִנְבִיאַי ’al- tig·gə·‘ū ḇim·šî·ḥāy tā·rê·‘ū ’al- wə·lin·ḇî·’ay — WLC · 15

He called down famine on the land and cut off all their supplies of food.

וַיִּקְרָ֣א רָ֭עָב עַל־ הָאָ֑רֶץ שָׁבָֽר׃ כָּֽל־ מַטֵּה־ לֶ֥חֶם way·yiq·rā rā·‘āḇ ‘al- hā·’ā·reṣ šā·ḇār kāl- maṭ·ṭêh- le·ḥem — WLC · 16

He sent a man before them— Joseph, sold as a slave.
𐤔𐤋𐤇 𐤀𐤉𐤔 𐤋𐤐𐤍𐤉𐤄𐤌 𐤉𐤅𐤎𐤐 𐤍𐤌𐤊𐤓 𐤋𐤏𐤁𐤃
שָׁלַ֣ח אִ֑ישׁ לִפְנֵיהֶ֣ם יוֹסֵֽף׃ נִמְכַּ֥ר לְ֝עֶ֗בֶד šā·laḥ ’îš lip̄·nê·hem yō·w·sêp̄ nim·kar lə·‘e·ḇeḏ — WLC · 17

They bruised his feet with shackles [and] placed his neck in irons,
𐤏𐤍𐤅 𐤓𐤂𐤋𐤉𐤅 𐤁𐤊𐤁𐤋 𐤁𐤀𐤄 𐤍𐤐𐤔𐤅 𐤁𐤓𐤆𐤋
עִנּ֣וּ רַגְלָיו בַכֶּ֣בֶל בָּ֣אָה נַפְשֽׁוֹ׃ בַּ֝רְזֶ֗ל ‘in·nū raḡ·lå̄w ḇak·ke·ḇel bā·’āh nap̄·šōw bar·zel — WLC · 18

until… his prediction came true [and] the word of the LORD proved him right.

עַד־ עֵ֥ת דְבָר֑וֹ בֹּֽא־ אִמְרַ֖ת יְהוָ֣ה צְרָפָֽתְהוּ׃ ‘aḏ- ‘êṯ ḏə·ḇā·rōw bō- ’im·raṯ Yah·weh ṣə·rā·p̄ā·ṯə·hū — WLC · 19

The king sent and released him; the ruler of peoples set him free.

מֶ֭לֶךְ שָׁ֣לַח וַיַּתִּירֵ֑הוּ מֹשֵׁ֥ל עַ֝מִּ֗ים וַֽיְפַתְּחֵֽהוּ׃ me·leḵ šā·laḥ wa·yat·tî·rê·hū mō·šêl ‘am·mîm way·p̄at·tə·ḥê·hū — WLC · 20

He made him master of his household, ruler over all his substance,
𐤔𐤌𐤅 𐤀𐤃𐤅𐤍 𐤋𐤁𐤉𐤕𐤅 𐤅𐤌𐤔𐤋 𐤁𐤊𐤋 𐤒𐤍𐤉𐤍𐤅
שָׂמ֣וֹ אָד֣וֹן לְבֵית֑וֹ וּ֝מֹשֵׁ֗ל בְּכָל־ קִנְיָנֽוֹ׃ śā·mōw ’ā·ḏō·wn lə·ḇê·ṯōw ū·mō·šêl bə·ḵāl qin·yā·nōw — WLC · 21

to instruct his princes as he pleased and teach his elders {wisdom}.
𐤋𐤀𐤎𐤓 𐤔𐤓𐤉𐤅 𐤁𐤍𐤐𐤔𐤅 𐤉𐤇𐤊𐤌 𐤅𐤆𐤒𐤍𐤉𐤅
לֶאְסֹ֣ר שָׂרָ֣יו בְּנַפְשׁ֑וֹ יְחַכֵּֽם׃ וּזְקֵנָ֥יו le’·sōr śā·rāw bə·nap̄·šōw yə·ḥak·kêm ū·zə·qê·nāw — WLC · 22

Then Israel entered Egypt; Jacob dwelt in the land of Ham.
𐤉𐤔𐤓𐤀𐤋 𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤀 𐤌𐤑𐤓𐤉𐤌 𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 𐤂𐤓 𐤁𐤀𐤓𐤑 𐤇𐤌
יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל וַיָּבֹ֣א מִצְרָ֑יִם וְ֝יַעֲקֹ֗ב גָּ֣ר בְּאֶֽרֶץ־ חָֽם׃ yiś·rā·’êl way·yā·ḇō miṣ·rā·yim wə·ya·‘ă·qōḇ gār bə·’e·reṣ- ḥām — WLC · 23

And the LORD made His people very fruitful, more numerous than their foes,

עַמּ֣וֹ מְאֹ֑ד וַיֶּ֣פֶר אֶת־ וַ֝יַּֽעֲצִמֵהוּ מִצָּרָֽיו׃ ‘am·mōw mə·’ōḏ way·ye·p̄er ’eṯ- way·ya·‘ă·ṣi·mê·hū miṣ·ṣā·rāw — WLC · 24

whose hearts He turned to hate His people, to conspire against His servants.

He sent Moses His servant, and Aaron, whom He had chosen

שָׁ֭לַח מֹשֶׁ֣ה עַבְדּ֑וֹ אַ֝הֲרֹ֗ן אֲשֶׁ֣ר בָּֽחַר־ בּֽוֹ׃ šā·laḥ mō·šeh ‘aḇ·dōw ’a·hă·rōn ’ă·šer bā·ḥar- bōw — WLC · 26

They performed His miraculous signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.

שָֽׂמוּ־ אֹתוֹתָ֑יו דִּבְרֵ֣י בָ֭ם וּ֝מֹפְתִ֗ים בְּאֶ֣רֶץ חָֽם׃ śā·mū- ’ō·ṯō·w·ṯāw diḇ·rê ḇām ū·mō·p̄ə·ṯîm bə·’e·reṣ ḥām — WLC · 27

He sent darkness, and it became dark— yet they defied His words.

שָׁ֣לַֽח חֹ֭שֶׁךְ וַיַּחְשִׁ֑ךְ וְלֹֽא־ מָ֝ר֗וּ אֶת־ דְּבָרָוו׃ šā·laḥ ḥō·šeḵ way·yaḥ·šiḵ wə·lō- mā·rū ’eṯ- də·ḇå̄·rå̄·ww — WLC · 28

He turned their waters to blood and caused their fish to die -.

הָפַ֣ךְ אֶת־ מֵימֵיהֶ֣ם לְדָ֑ם דְּגָתָֽם׃ וַ֝יָּ֗מֶת אֶת־ hā·p̄aḵ ’eṯ- mê·mê·hem lə·ḏām də·ḡā·ṯām way·yā·meṯ ’eṯ- — WLC · 29

Their land teemed with frogs, even in their royal chambers.

אַרְצָ֣ם שָׁרַ֣ץ צְפַרְדְּעִ֑ים מַלְכֵיהֶֽם׃ בְּ֝חַדְרֵ֗י ’ar·ṣām šā·raṣ ṣə·p̄ar·də·‘îm mal·ḵê·hem bə·ḥaḏ·rê — WLC · 30

He spoke, and insects swarmed— gnats throughout their country.

אָ֭מַר עָרֹ֑ב וַיָּבֹ֣א כִּ֝נִּ֗ים בְּכָל־ גְּבוּלָֽם׃ ’ā·mar ‘ā·rōḇ way·yā·ḇō kin·nîm bə·ḵāl gə·ḇū·lām — WLC · 31

He gave them hail for rain, with lightning… throughout their land.

נָתַ֣ן בָּרָ֑ד גִּשְׁמֵיהֶ֣ם אֵ֖שׁ לֶהָב֣וֹת בְּאַרְצָֽם׃ nā·ṯan bā·rāḏ giš·mê·hem ’êš le·hā·ḇō·wṯ bə·’ar·ṣām — WLC · 32

He struck their vines and fig trees and shattered the trees of their country.

וַיַּ֣ךְ גַּ֭פְנָם וּתְאֵנָתָ֑ם וַ֝יְשַׁבֵּ֗ר עֵ֣ץ גְּבוּלָֽם׃ way·yaḵ gap̄·nām ū·ṯə·’ê·nā·ṯām way·šab·bêr ‘êṣ gə·ḇū·lām — WLC · 33

He spoke, and the locusts came— young locusts without number.

They devoured every plant in their land and consumed the produce of their soil.

וַיֹּ֣אכַל כָּל־ עֵ֣שֶׂב בְּאַרְצָ֑ם וַ֝יֹּ֗אכַל פְּרִ֣י אַדְמָתָֽם׃ way·yō·ḵal kāl- ‘ê·śeḇ bə·’ar·ṣām way·yō·ḵal pə·rî ’aḏ·mā·ṯām — WLC · 35

Then He struck all the firstborn in their land, the firstfruits of all their vigor.

וַיַּ֣ךְ כָּל־ בְּכ֣וֹר בְּאַרְצָ֑ם רֵ֝אשִׁ֗ית לְכָל־ אוֹנָֽם׃ way·yaḵ kāl- bə·ḵō·wr bə·’ar·ṣām rê·šîṯ lə·ḵāl ’ō·w·nām — WLC · 36

He brought [Israel] out with silver and gold, and none among His tribes stumbled.

Egypt was glad when they departed, for the dread of Israel had fallen on them.

He spread a cloud as a covering and a fire to light up the night.

They asked, and He brought quail and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.

He opened a rock, and water gushed out; it flowed [like] a river in the desert.

For He remembered His holy promise to Abraham His servant.

He brought forth His people… with rejoicing, His chosen with shouts of joy. -

עַמּ֣וֹ וַיּוֹצִ֣א בְשָׂשׂ֑וֹן בְּחִירָֽיו׃ בְּ֝רִנָּ֗ה אֶת־ ‘am·mōw way·yō·w·ṣi ḇə·śā·śō·wn bə·ḥî·rāw bə·rin·nāh ’eṯ- — WLC · 43

He gave them… the lands of the nations, that they might inherit the fruit of others’ labor…,

that they might keep His statutes and obey His laws. Hallelujah…!
