Chapter 27

Rules about Valuations

1

Then the LORD said to Moses…,

𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤅𐤉𐤃𐤁𐤓 𐤀𐤋 𐤌𐤔𐤄 𐤋𐤀𐤌𐤓

יְהוָ֖ה וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר אֶל־ מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃ Yah·weh way·ḏab·bêr ’el- mō·šeh lê·mōrWLC · 1

“Speak to the Israelites… and say to them, ‘When someone makes a special vow to the LORD involving the value of persons,

𐤃𐤁𐤓 𐤀𐤋 𐤁𐤍𐤉 𐤉𐤔𐤓𐤀𐤋 𐤅𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤕 𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤌 𐤊𐤉 𐤀𐤉𐤔 𐤉𐤐𐤋𐤀 𐤍𐤃𐤓 𐤋𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤁𐤏𐤓𐤊𐤊 𐤍𐤐𐤔𐤕

דַּבֵּ֞ר אֶל־ בְּנֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ אֲלֵהֶ֔ם כִּ֥י אִ֕ישׁ יַפְלִ֖א נֶ֑דֶר לַֽיהוָֽה׃ בְּעֶרְכְּךָ֥ נְפָשֹׁ֖ת dab·bêr ’el- bə·nê yiś·rā·’êl wə·’ā·mar·tā ’ă·lê·hem kî ’îš yap̄·li ne·ḏer Yah·weh bə·‘er·kə·ḵā nə·p̄ā·šōṯWLC · 2

if the valuation concerns a male… from twenty to… sixty years of age, then your valuation shall be fifty shekels of silver, according to the sanctuary shekel.

𐤏𐤓𐤊𐤊 𐤅𐤄𐤉𐤄 𐤄𐤆𐤊𐤓 𐤌𐤁𐤍 𐤏𐤔𐤓𐤉𐤌 𐤔𐤍𐤄 𐤅𐤏𐤃 𐤁𐤍 𐤔𐤔𐤉𐤌 𐤔𐤍𐤄 𐤏𐤓𐤊𐤊 𐤅𐤄𐤉𐤄 𐤇𐤌𐤔𐤉𐤌 𐤔𐤒𐤋 𐤊𐤎𐤐 𐤄𐤒𐤃𐤔 𐤁𐤔𐤒𐤋

עֶרְכְּךָ֙ וְהָיָ֤ה הַזָּכָ֔ר מִבֶּן֙ עֶשְׂרִ֣ים שָׁנָ֔ה וְעַ֖ד בֶּן־ שִׁשִּׁ֣ים שָׁנָ֑ה עֶרְכְּךָ֗ וְהָיָ֣ה חֲמִשִּׁ֛ים שֶׁ֥קֶל כֶּ֖סֶף הַקֹּֽדֶשׁ׃ בְּשֶׁ֥קֶל ‘er·kə·ḵā wə·hā·yāh haz·zā·ḵār mib·ben ‘eś·rîm šā·nāh wə·‘aḏ ben- šiš·šîm šā·nāh ‘er·kə·ḵā wə·hā·yāh ḥă·miš·šîm še·qel ke·sep̄ haq·qō·ḏeš bə·še·qelWLC · 3

Or if it is a female, then your valuation shall be thirty shekels.

𐤅𐤀𐤌 𐤄𐤅𐤀 𐤍𐤒𐤁𐤄 𐤏𐤓𐤊𐤊 𐤅𐤄𐤉𐤄 𐤔𐤋𐤔𐤉𐤌 𐤔𐤒𐤋

וְאִם־ הִ֑וא נְקֵבָ֖ה עֶרְכְּךָ֖ וְהָיָ֥ה שְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים שָֽׁקֶל׃ wə·’im- hî nə·qê·ḇāh ‘er·kə·ḵā wə·hā·yāh šə·lō·šîm šā·qelWLC · 4

And if [the person is] from five to… twenty… years of age…, then your valuation for the male shall be twenty shekels, and for the female ten shekels.

𐤅𐤀𐤌 𐤇𐤌𐤔 𐤅𐤏𐤃 𐤁𐤍 𐤏𐤔𐤓𐤉𐤌 𐤔𐤍𐤄 𐤌𐤁𐤍 𐤔𐤍𐤉𐤌 𐤏𐤓𐤊𐤊 𐤄𐤆𐤊𐤓 𐤅𐤄𐤉𐤄 𐤏𐤔𐤓𐤉𐤌 𐤔𐤒𐤋𐤉𐤌 𐤅𐤋𐤍𐤒𐤁𐤄 𐤏𐤔𐤓𐤕 𐤔𐤒𐤋𐤉𐤌

וְאִ֨ם חָמֵ֜שׁ וְעַד֙ בֶּן־ עֶשְׂרִ֣ים שָׁנָ֔ה מִבֶּן־ שָׁנִ֗ים עֶרְכְּךָ֛ הַזָּכָ֖ר וְהָיָ֧ה עֶשְׂרִ֣ים שְׁקָלִ֑ים וְלַנְּקֵבָ֖ה עֲשֶׂ֥רֶת שְׁקָלִֽים׃ wə·’im ḥā·mêš wə·‘aḏ ben- ‘eś·rîm šā·nāh mib·ben- šā·nîm ‘er·kə·ḵā haz·zā·ḵār wə·hā·yāh ‘eś·rîm šə·qā·lîm wə·lan·nə·qê·ḇāh ‘ă·śe·reṯ šə·qā·lîmWLC · 5

Now if [the person is] from one month to… five years of age, then your valuation for the male shall be five shekels of silver, and for the female three shekels of silver.

𐤅𐤀𐤌 𐤌𐤁𐤍 𐤇𐤃𐤔 𐤅𐤏𐤃 𐤁𐤍 𐤇𐤌𐤔 𐤔𐤍𐤉𐤌 𐤏𐤓𐤊𐤊 𐤄𐤆𐤊𐤓 𐤅𐤄𐤉𐤄 𐤇𐤌𐤔𐤄 𐤔𐤒𐤋𐤉𐤌 𐤊𐤎𐤐 𐤅𐤋𐤍𐤒𐤁𐤄 𐤏𐤓𐤊𐤊 𐤔𐤋𐤔𐤕 𐤔𐤒𐤋𐤉𐤌 𐤊𐤎𐤐

וְאִ֣ם מִבֶּן־ חֹ֗דֶשׁ וְעַד֙ בֶּן־ חָמֵ֣שׁ שָׁנִ֔ים עֶרְכְּךָ֙ הַזָּכָ֔ר וְהָיָ֤ה חֲמִשָּׁ֥ה שְׁקָלִ֖ים כָּ֑סֶף וְלַנְּקֵבָ֣ה עֶרְכְּךָ֔ שְׁלֹ֥שֶׁת שְׁקָלִ֖ים כָּֽסֶף׃ wə·’im mib·ben- ḥō·ḏeš wə·‘aḏ ben- ḥā·mêš šā·nîm ‘er·kə·ḵā haz·zā·ḵār wə·hā·yāh ḥă·miš·šāh šə·qā·lîm kā·sep̄ wə·lan·nə·qê·ḇāh ‘er·kə·ḵā šə·lō·šeṯ šə·qā·lîm kā·sep̄WLC · 6

And if [the person is]… sixty years of age or older,… then your valuation shall be fifteen… shekels for the male and ten shekels for the female.

𐤅𐤀𐤌 𐤌𐤁𐤍 𐤔𐤔𐤉𐤌 𐤔𐤍𐤄 𐤅𐤌𐤏𐤋𐤄 𐤀𐤌 𐤏𐤓𐤊𐤊 𐤅𐤄𐤉𐤄 𐤇𐤌𐤔𐤄 𐤏𐤔𐤓 𐤔𐤒𐤋 𐤆𐤊𐤓 𐤏𐤔𐤓𐤄 𐤔𐤒𐤋𐤉𐤌 𐤅𐤋𐤍𐤒𐤁𐤄

וְ֠אִם מִבֶּן־ שִׁשִּׁ֨ים שָׁנָ֤ה וָמַ֙עְלָה֙ אִם־ עֶרְכְּךָ֔ וְהָיָ֣ה חֲמִשָּׁ֥ה עָשָׂ֖ר שָׁ֑קֶל זָכָ֔ר עֲשָׂרָ֥ה שְׁקָלִֽים׃ וְלַנְּקֵבָ֖ה wə·’im mib·ben- šiš·šîm šā·nāh wā·ma‘·lāh ’im- ‘er·kə·ḵā wə·hā·yāh ḥă·miš·šāh ‘ā·śār šā·qel zā·ḵār ‘ă·śā·rāh šə·qā·lîm wə·lan·nə·qê·ḇāhWLC · 7

But if [the one making the vow] is too poor to pay the valuation, he is to present [the person] before the priest, [who] shall set the value - according to… what the one making the vow can afford…

𐤅𐤀𐤌 𐤄𐤅𐤀 𐤌𐤊 𐤌𐤏𐤓𐤊𐤊 𐤅𐤄𐤏𐤌𐤉𐤃𐤅 𐤋𐤐𐤍𐤉 𐤄𐤊𐤄𐤍 𐤄𐤊𐤄𐤍 𐤅𐤄𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤊 𐤀𐤕𐤅 𐤄𐤊𐤄𐤍𐤎 𐤉𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤊𐤍𐤅 𐤏𐤋 𐤐𐤉 𐤀𐤔𐤓 𐤄𐤍𐤃𐤓 𐤕𐤔𐤉𐤂 𐤉𐤃

וְאִם־ הוּא֙ מָ֥ךְ מֵֽעֶרְכֶּ֔ךָ וְהֶֽעֱמִידוֹ֙ לִפְנֵ֣י הַכֹּהֵ֔ן הַכֹּהֵ֑ן וְהֶעֱרִ֥יךְ אֹת֖וֹ הַכֹּהֵֽן׃ס יַעֲרִיכֶ֖נּוּ עַל־ פִּ֗י אֲשֶׁ֤ר הַנֹּדֵ֔ר תַּשִּׂיג֙ יַ֣ד wə·’im- hū māḵ mê·‘er·ke·ḵā wə·he·‘ĕ·mî·ḏōw lip̄·nê hak·kō·hên hak·kō·hên wə·he·‘ĕ·rîḵ ’ō·ṯōw hak·kō·hên ya·‘ă·rî·ḵen·nū ‘al- pî ’ă·šer han·nō·ḏêr taś·śîḡ yaḏWLC · 8

If [he vows] an animal that may be brought as an offering to the LORD, any such [animal] given to the LORD shall be holy.

𐤅𐤀𐤌 𐤌𐤌𐤍𐤄 𐤁𐤄𐤌𐤄 𐤀𐤔𐤓 𐤉𐤒𐤓𐤉𐤁𐤅 𐤒𐤓𐤁𐤍 𐤋𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤊𐤋 𐤌𐤌𐤍𐤅 𐤀𐤔𐤓 𐤉𐤕𐤍 𐤋𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤉𐤄𐤉𐤄 𐤒𐤃𐤔

וְאִם־ מִמֶּ֛נָּה בְּהֵמָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר יַקְרִ֧יבוּ קָרְבָּ֖ן לַֽיהוָ֑ה כֹּל֩ מִמֶּ֛נּוּ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יִתֵּ֥ן לַיהוָ֖ה יִֽהְיֶה־ קֹּֽדֶשׁ׃ wə·’im- mim·men·nāh bə·hê·māh ’ă·šer yaq·rî·ḇū qār·bān Yah·weh kōl mim·men·nū ’ă·šer yit·tên Yah·weh yih·yeh- qō·ḏešWLC · 9

He must not replace it… or exchange it, either good for bad or bad for good. But if he does substitute… one animal for another, both that animal and its substitute… will be holy.

𐤋𐤀 𐤉𐤇𐤋𐤉𐤐𐤍𐤅 𐤅𐤋𐤀 𐤉𐤌𐤉𐤓 𐤀𐤕𐤅 𐤈𐤅𐤁 𐤁𐤓𐤏 𐤀𐤅 𐤓𐤏 𐤁𐤈𐤅𐤁 𐤅𐤀𐤌 𐤄𐤌𐤓 𐤉𐤌𐤉𐤓 𐤁𐤄𐤌𐤄 𐤁𐤁𐤄𐤌𐤄 𐤄𐤅𐤀 𐤅𐤕𐤌𐤅𐤓𐤕𐤅 𐤉𐤄𐤉𐤄 𐤅𐤄𐤉𐤄 𐤒𐤃𐤔

לֹ֣א יַחֲלִיפֶ֗נּוּ וְלֹֽא־ יָמִ֥יר אֹת֛וֹ ט֥וֹב בְּרָ֖ע אוֹ־ רַ֣ע בְּט֑וֹב וְאִם־ הָמֵ֨ר יָמִ֤יר בְּהֵמָה֙ בִּבְהֵמָ֔ה ה֥וּא וּתְמוּרָת֖וֹ יִֽהְיֶה־ וְהָֽיָה־ קֹּֽדֶשׁ׃ lō ya·ḥă·lî·p̄en·nū wə·lō- yā·mîr ’ō·ṯōw ṭō·wḇ bə·rā‘ ’ōw- ra‘ bə·ṭō·wḇ wə·’im- hā·mêr yā·mîr bə·hê·māh biḇ·hê·māh hū ū·ṯə·mū·rā·ṯōw yih·yeh- wə·hā·yāh- qō·ḏešWLC · 10

But if the vow involves any of the unclean animals that may not be brought… as an offering to the LORD, the animal must be presented before the priest.

𐤅𐤀𐤌 𐤊𐤋 𐤈𐤌𐤀𐤄 𐤁𐤄𐤌𐤄 𐤀𐤔𐤓 𐤋𐤀 𐤉𐤒𐤓𐤉𐤁𐤅 𐤌𐤌𐤍𐤄 𐤒𐤓𐤁𐤍 𐤋𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤄𐤁𐤄𐤌𐤄 𐤅𐤄𐤏𐤌𐤉𐤃 𐤀𐤕 𐤋𐤐𐤍𐤉 𐤄𐤊𐤄𐤍

וְאִם֙ כָּל־ טְמֵאָ֔ה בְּהֵמָ֣ה אֲ֠שֶׁר לֹא־ יַקְרִ֧יבוּ מִמֶּ֛נָּה קָרְבָּ֖ן לַֽיהוָ֑ה הַבְּהֵמָ֖ה וְהֶֽעֱמִ֥יד אֶת־ לִפְנֵ֥י הַכֹּהֵֽן׃ wə·’im kāl- ṭə·mê·’āh bə·hê·māh ’ă·šer lō- yaq·rî·ḇū mim·men·nāh qār·bān Yah·weh hab·bə·hê·māh wə·he·‘ĕ·mîḏ ’eṯ- lip̄·nê hak·kō·hênWLC · 11

The priest - shall set its value, whether high… or low; as the priest values it, the price will be set.

𐤄𐤊𐤄𐤍 𐤀𐤕𐤄 𐤁𐤉𐤍 𐤅𐤄𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤊 𐤈𐤅𐤁 𐤅𐤁𐤉𐤍 𐤓𐤏 𐤄𐤊𐤄𐤍 𐤊𐤏𐤓𐤊𐤊 𐤊𐤍 𐤉𐤄𐤉𐤄

הַכֹּהֵן֙ אֹתָ֔הּ בֵּ֥ין וְהֶעֱרִ֤יךְ ט֖וֹב וּבֵ֣ין רָ֑ע הַכֹּהֵ֖ן כְּעֶרְכְּךָ֥ כֵּ֥ן יִהְיֶֽה׃ hak·kō·hên ’ō·ṯāh bên wə·he·‘ĕ·rîḵ ṭō·wḇ ū·ḇên rā‘ hak·kō·hên kə·‘er·kə·ḵā kên yih·yehWLC · 12

If, however, [the owner] decides to redeem [the animal]…, he must add a fifth to its value.

𐤅𐤀𐤌 𐤂𐤀𐤋 𐤉𐤂𐤀𐤋𐤍𐤄 𐤅𐤉𐤎𐤐 𐤇𐤌𐤉𐤔𐤕𐤅 𐤏𐤋 𐤏𐤓𐤊𐤊

וְאִם־ גָּאֹ֖ל יִגְאָלֶ֑נָּה וְיָסַ֥ף חֲמִישִׁת֖וֹ עַל־ עֶרְכֶּֽךָ׃ wə·’im- gā·’ōl yiḡ·’ā·len·nāh wə·yā·sap̄ ḥă·mî·ši·ṯōw ‘al- ‘er·ke·ḵāWLC · 13

14

Now if a man consecrates his house as holy to the LORD, then the priest shall value it either as good or bad. The price will stand just as the priest… values it.

𐤊𐤉 𐤅𐤀𐤉𐤔 𐤉𐤒𐤃𐤔 𐤀𐤕 𐤁𐤉𐤕𐤅 𐤒𐤃𐤔 𐤋𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤄𐤊𐤄𐤍 𐤅𐤄𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤊𐤅 𐤁𐤉𐤍 𐤈𐤅𐤁 𐤅𐤁𐤉𐤍 𐤓𐤏 𐤉𐤒𐤅𐤌 𐤊𐤀𐤔𐤓 𐤄𐤊𐤄𐤍 𐤊𐤍 𐤉𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤊 𐤀𐤕𐤅

כִּֽי־ וְאִ֗ישׁ יַקְדִּ֨שׁ אֶת־ בֵּית֥וֹ קֹ֙דֶשׁ֙ לַֽיהוָ֔ה הַכֹּהֵ֔ן וְהֶעֱרִיכוֹ֙ בֵּ֥ין ט֖וֹב וּבֵ֣ין רָ֑ע יָקֽוּם׃ כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר הַכֹּהֵ֖ן כֵּ֥ן יַעֲרִ֥יךְ אֹת֛וֹ kî- wə·’îš yaq·diš ’eṯ- bê·ṯōw qō·ḏeš Yah·weh hak·kō·hên wə·he·‘ĕ·rî·ḵōw bên ṭō·wḇ ū·ḇên rā‘ yā·qūm ka·’ă·šer hak·kō·hên kên ya·‘ă·rîḵ ’ō·ṯōwWLC · 14

But if he who consecrated his house redeems it, he must add a fifth to the assessed value, and it will belong to him.

𐤅𐤀𐤌 𐤄𐤌𐤒𐤃𐤉𐤔 𐤁𐤉𐤕𐤅 𐤉𐤂𐤀𐤋 𐤀𐤕 𐤅𐤉𐤎𐤐 𐤇𐤌𐤉𐤔𐤉𐤕 𐤏𐤋𐤉𐤅 𐤏𐤓𐤊𐤊 𐤊𐤎𐤐 𐤅𐤄𐤉𐤄 𐤋𐤅

וְאִ֨ם־ הַמַּקְדִּ֔ישׁ בֵּית֑וֹ יִגְאַ֖ל אֶת־ וְ֠יָסַף חֲמִישִׁ֧ית עָלָ֖יו עֶרְכְּךָ֛ כֶּֽסֶף־ וְהָ֥יָה לֽוֹ׃ wə·’im- ham·maq·dîš bê·ṯōw yiḡ·’al ’eṯ- wə·yā·sap̄ ḥă·mî·šîṯ ‘ā·lāw ‘er·kə·ḵā ke·sep̄- wə·hā·yāh lōwWLC · 15

16

If a man consecrates to the LORD a parcel of his land, then your valuation shall be proportional to the seed required for it— fifty shekels of silver for every homer of barley seed.

𐤅𐤀𐤌 𐤀𐤉𐤔 𐤉𐤒𐤃𐤉𐤔 𐤋𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤌𐤔𐤃𐤄 𐤀𐤇𐤆𐤕𐤅 𐤏𐤓𐤊𐤊 𐤅𐤄𐤉𐤄 𐤋𐤐𐤉 𐤆𐤓𐤏𐤅 𐤁𐤇𐤌𐤔𐤉𐤌 𐤔𐤒𐤋 𐤊𐤎𐤐 𐤇𐤌𐤓 𐤔𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤌 𐤆𐤓𐤏

וְאִ֣ם׀ אִישׁ֙ יַקְדִּ֥ישׁ לַֽיהוָ֔ה מִשְּׂדֵ֣ה אֲחֻזָּת֗וֹ עֶרְכְּךָ֖ וְהָיָ֥ה לְפִ֣י זַרְע֑וֹ בַּחֲמִשִּׁ֖ים שֶׁ֥קֶל כָּֽסֶף׃ חֹ֣מֶר שְׂעֹרִ֔ים זֶ֚רַע wə·’im ’îš yaq·dîš Yah·weh miś·śə·ḏêh ’ă·ḥuz·zā·ṯōw ‘er·kə·ḵā wə·hā·yāh lə·p̄î zar·‘ōw ba·ḥă·miš·šîm še·qel kā·sep̄ ḥō·mer śə·‘ō·rîm ze·ra‘WLC · 16

17

If he consecrates his field during the Year of Jubilee, the price will stand according to your valuation.

𐤀𐤌 𐤉𐤒𐤃𐤉𐤔 𐤔𐤃𐤄𐤅 𐤌𐤔𐤍𐤕 𐤄𐤉𐤁𐤋 𐤉𐤒𐤅𐤌 𐤊𐤏𐤓𐤊𐤊

אִם־ יַקְדִּ֣ישׁ שָׂדֵ֑הוּ מִשְּׁנַ֥ת הַיֹּבֵ֖ל יָקֽוּם׃ כְּעֶרְכְּךָ֖ ’im- yaq·dîš śā·ḏê·hū miš·šə·naṯ hay·yō·ḇêl yā·qūm kə·‘er·kə·ḵāWLC · 17

18

But if he consecrates his field after the Jubilee, the priest is to calculate the price in proportion to… the years left until the next Year of Jubilee, so that your valuation will be reduced.

𐤅𐤀𐤌 𐤉𐤒𐤃𐤉𐤔 𐤔𐤃𐤄𐤅 𐤀𐤇𐤓 𐤄𐤉𐤁𐤋 𐤄𐤊𐤄𐤍 𐤀𐤕 𐤅𐤇𐤔𐤁 𐤋𐤅 𐤄𐤊𐤎𐤐 𐤏𐤋 𐤐𐤉 𐤄𐤔𐤍𐤉𐤌 𐤄𐤍𐤅𐤕𐤓𐤕 𐤏𐤃 𐤔𐤍𐤕 𐤄𐤉𐤁𐤋 𐤌𐤏𐤓𐤊𐤊 𐤅𐤍𐤂𐤓𐤏

וְאִם־ יַקְדִּ֣ישׁ שָׂדֵהוּ֒ אַחַ֣ר הַיֹּבֵל֮ הַכֹּהֵ֜ן אֶת־ וְחִשַּׁב־ ל֨וֹ הַכֶּ֗סֶף עַל־ פִּ֤י הַשָּׁנִים֙ הַנּ֣וֹתָרֹ֔ת עַ֖ד שְׁנַ֣ת הַיֹּבֵ֑ל מֵֽעֶרְכֶּֽךָ׃ וְנִגְרַ֖ע wə·’im- yaq·dîš śā·ḏê·hū ’a·ḥar hay·yō·ḇêl hak·kō·hên ’eṯ- wə·ḥiš·šaḇ- lōw hak·ke·sep̄ ‘al- pî haš·šā·nîm han·nō·w·ṯā·rōṯ ‘aḏ šə·naṯ hay·yō·ḇêl mê·‘er·ke·ḵā wə·niḡ·ra‘WLC · 18

And if the one who consecrated the field decides to redeem it…, he must add a fifth to the assessed value, and it shall belong to him.

If, however, he does not redeem the field, or if he has sold it to another man, it may no longer be redeemed.

When the field is released in the Jubilee, it will become holy, like a field devoted to the LORD; it becomes the property of the priests.

Now if [a man] consecrates to the LORD a field he has purchased, which is not a part of his own property,

וְאִם֙ אֶת־ יַקְדִּ֖ישׁ לַֽיהוָֽה׃ שְׂדֵ֣ה מִקְנָת֔וֹ אֲשֶׁ֕ר לֹ֖א מִשְּׂדֵ֣ה אֲחֻזָּת֑וֹ wə·’im ’eṯ- yaq·dîš Yah·weh śə·ḏêh miq·nā·ṯōw ’ă·šer lō miś·śə·ḏêh ’ă·ḥuz·zā·ṯōwWLC · 22

then the priest shall calculate for him the value… up to the Year of Jubilee, and [the man] shall pay the assessed value on that day as a sacred offering to the LORD.

In the Year of Jubilee the field shall return to the one from whom it was bought—… - the original owner of the land.

Every valuation will be according to the sanctuary shekel, twenty gerahs… to the shekel.

וְכָל־ עֶרְכְּךָ֔ יִהְיֶ֖ה הַקֹּ֑דֶשׁ בְּשֶׁ֣קֶל עֶשְׂרִ֥ים גֵּרָ֖ה יִהְיֶ֥ה הַשָּֽׁקֶל׃ס wə·ḵāl ‘er·kə·ḵā yih·yeh haq·qō·ḏeš bə·še·qel ‘eś·rîm gê·rāh yih·yeh haš·šā·qelWLC · 25

But no one may consecrate a firstborn of the livestock, because a firstborn belongs to the LORD. Whether [it is] an ox or a sheep, it [is] the LORD’s.

אַךְ־ לֹֽא־ אִ֖ישׁ אֹת֑וֹ יַקְדִּ֥ישׁ בְּכ֞וֹר בִּבְהֵמָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר־ יְבֻכַּ֤ר לַֽיהוָה֙ אִם־ שׁ֣וֹר אִם־ שֶׂ֔ה הֽוּא׃ לַֽיהוָ֖ה ’aḵ- lō- ’îš ’ō·ṯōw yaq·dîš bə·ḵō·wr biḇ·hê·māh ’ă·šer- yə·ḇuk·kar Yah·weh ’im- šō·wr ’im- śeh hū Yah·wehWLC · 26

But if [it is] among the unclean animals, then he may redeem it according to your valuation and add a fifth of its value. If it is not redeemed, then it shall be sold according to your valuation.

  • Nothing that a man sets apart… to the LORD from all he owns— whether a man, an animal, or his inherited land…— can be sold… or redeemed; everything so devoted [is] most holy… to the LORD.

No… - person set apart for destruction… may be ransomed; he must surely be put to death…

Instruction on Tithes

30

Thus any tithe from the land, [whether] from the seed of the land or the fruit of the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD.

𐤅𐤊𐤋 𐤌𐤏𐤔𐤓 𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 𐤌𐤆𐤓𐤏 𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 𐤌𐤐𐤓𐤉 𐤄𐤏𐤑 𐤋𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤄𐤅𐤀 𐤒𐤃𐤔 𐤋𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄

וְכָל־ מַעְשַׂ֨ר הָאָ֜רֶץ מִזֶּ֤רַע הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ מִפְּרִ֣י הָעֵ֔ץ לַיהוָ֖ה ה֑וּא קֹ֖דֶשׁ לַֽיהוָֽה׃ wə·ḵāl ma‘·śar hā·’ā·reṣ miz·ze·ra‘ hā·’ā·reṣ mip·pə·rî hā·‘êṣ Yah·weh hū qō·ḏeš Yah·wehWLC · 30

If a man wishes to redeem part of his tithe, he must add a fifth to its value.

וְאִם־ אִ֖ישׁ גָּאֹ֥ל יִגְאַ֛ל מִמַּֽעַשְׂר֑וֹ יֹסֵ֥ף חֲמִשִׁית֖וֹ עָלָֽיו׃ wə·’im- ’îš gā·’ōl yiḡ·’al mim·ma·‘aś·rōw yō·sêp̄ ḥă·mi·šî·ṯōw ‘ā·lāwWLC · 31

Every tenth animal from the herd or flock… that passes under the shepherd’s rod… will be holy to the LORD.

וְכָל־ מַעְשַׂ֤ר בָּקָר֙ וָצֹ֔אן כֹּ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־ יַעֲבֹ֖ר תַּ֣חַת הַשָּׁ֑בֶט הָֽעֲשִׂירִ֕י יִֽהְיֶה־ קֹּ֖דֶשׁ לַֽיהוָֽה׃ wə·ḵāl ma‘·śar bā·qār wā·ṣōn kōl ’ă·šer- ya·‘ă·ḇōr ta·ḥaṯ haš·šā·ḇeṭ hā·‘ă·śî·rî yih·yeh- qō·ḏeš Yah·wehWLC · 32

He must not inspect whether it is good or bad, and he shall not make any substitution. But if he does make a substitution…, both the animal and its substitute… shall become holy; they cannot be redeemed.’”

These are the commandments that the LORD gave to Moses for the Israelites… on Mount Sinai.
